Snow White, Disney, Rachel zegles and a toxic discussion that does not leave

Disney Rachel Zelarir Plays in Snow WhiteDysne

Rachel Zelarir Plays Snow White in Remake on Disney Live

No matter what you like a new movie about white or you hate it, it is difficult to avoid discussion around your leading actress Rachel Zelarir.

The 23-year-old star domes with the film, because people either blame her in bad reviews or jump on her defense, saying she was unfairly angry.

And this discussion is not new to Zelarir.

The way before the white, She was in the center of the stormMany criticize her to take the original film and her political views, including US President Donald Trump and his voters.

Others defended her and expressed discomfort, seeing how young actress suffers on a pile.

Kelechi Echelon’s film critic calls Zelarir the victim of “cultural wars”, and warns actors from insufficient representation (Zegler is latina), which often become “targets for reaction”.

So how did we reach this point – and where is the zeckar from here?

Guilty game

Let’s start with the film itself.

The Classic Tale version of Disney’s classic fairy tale was released earlier this month and faced a lot of reviews (“Wendy” described “observer” As “Toe-Curlingly scared”.) US Reviewers have been somewhat more positive – but despite it topping the north American box official chart, it hasn’t made as much as expected.

On social networks, some people quickly sent their finger at Zelarir, arguing her that she had interfered with the release.

They include Jona Plath, son of the producer of Snow White Mark Plat. Earlier this week he aimed at Zelarir in a fiery message on social media. Since then it was removed but was screenshot by several outlets, including NEW YORK POST.

He said he was “(dragged) her personal policy” to the film advertising campaign, adding: “Her actions have clearly harmed the film.”

Plath did not respond to a request for BBC News comment.

The disputes began much earlier.

Before the movie came out, Zelarir faced the Internet, who disagreed with her casting as a character who is considered to be “white as snow”.

Zelarir made headlines after her comments in 2022 about the original film. “There is great attention (in the original) on her love story with a guy who literally pursues her. Surprisingly! So we didn’t do it.”

Zegledar also said The original film was “extremely dated when it comes to the ideas of women who are in the role of force,” adding: “People jokes like ours is a PC -BELAGE, where it is, yes, because it is needed.”

Many saw these words as a reproach against the Disney tradition.

Daily Mail called it “woke up the tirade” and article This week in diversity She said that “broke her favorite original white.”

City AM editor Victoria Lukford says the criticism of the original movie “never work well. These films are sold on nostalgia to make you feel the way you saw the original, so to speak, it seemed negatively surprised.”

Zelarir refused to comment on this work.

But Anna Smith, the film critic and the host of the girls on the Podcast movie, told the BBC News that some headlines may be misleading.

“Zelarir noted that times and views have changed, and that the new white was adapted for the current age. This is a matter with many remakes and reboot, many of which do not make headlines with comments on” woken “culture.”

Zelarir’s political views also caused a reaction.

Last summer she thanked fans for the answer to the film trailer in the message on xAdding, “and always remember, Palestine free.”

According to the Variety article, Mark Platt – mentioned above – flew to New York to talk directly to Zelark after his post.

Neither Zelarir nor Plaths answered the request for this.

Zelarir also launched disputes with his views after the 2024 US presidential election. Writing on Instagram, she said she hoped that “Trump voters never know the world.”

She later apologized For what she said.

Some welcome her for saying about her mind. Eugene says she is “not the first and, of course, not the last actor who speaks about politics.”

And Luxford told me that she was “pressing” to imagine the main audience of the film, children under 10 years of age, which faltered from her politics.

But film critic Connar Riley said her comments about Trump did not “help the stability of the film’s release.”

He notes that Galo’s gal, who plays the stepmother Snow White, the Evil Queen, also collided with some people. Gadot, which is Israeli, is engaged in its support for the country.

The film’s terms also did not help, he added.

“Ultimately, the lightning rod for disputes not only because of its own actions, but because the white land landed at the intersection of the creative stagnation of Hollywood, racial policy, international conflict and deep ideological break in America,” he said.

“Objectives for back reaction”

Some, like Lukford, claim that some of the piles come from the “place of prejudice”.

“She is a young Latin American woman with political reasons who do not match certain groups that quickly express their anger,” she said.

Zelarir is far from the first young female actress, which appeared to the toxic reaction. Recently Actor Stranger Things Mile Bobbi Brown criticized the press articles About her appearance, saying, “This is not journalism, this is a bullying.”

Smith notes that women who hold the position are likely to be directed in this way.

“If women in the public eye are criticized, there is often a prejudice at work. Regardless of the topic, what it concerns, spoke and reported, will often be different in comparison with how men treat it,” she said.

For his part, Echelne urges Galina to do more to protect his stars.

“What is annoying to me is how easy (color people) actors become a target for the reaction in social media, and yet the culture of silence from studios, information publications and social media platforms speaks of everything,” she said.

“This is the absence of public protection … means to the toxicity continues to play and rise. It is a wild west, and I don’t see it better when it normalizes to such an extent.”

We posted these claims for Disney, but they refused to comment.

Big roles continue to come to Zelarir. Now she is signed on the star in Evita in Vest -nda this summer, and on Friday she made a splash in another -reading the story of the Sleep Cbeebies.

At the end of the storyZelarir says to the young spectators, “To be a powerful princess, you just need to be beautiful, shiny!” For some, this message that is encapsulated by Zelarir himself.

“I do not know if it will make another Disney movie in the near future,” says Luxford, “but she’s 23 years old, she’s winner of the Golden Globe, and she is a very talented actor.”
