Six cut off heads were found on the road in Central Mexico, in an area that is not usually connected with violence in the cartel.
Local authorities made a discovery early on Tuesday on the route, which connects the wide peaceful states of Puebla and Tkalak.
Police did not give the motive for the killings and did not say which of the criminal groups operating in Mexico could carry them out.
Local media reports that a blanket was abandoned at the scene with a report on the warning of a rival gang and obviously signed by a group called “La Barredora”, which means Sweeper.
This is the same as the little -known criminal group operating in Western Guerro, but it is unclear whether they remained behind the attack or why.
The local prosecutor’s office said the leaders found in Tlaxcala were men and she launched an investigation into the killings, AFP reports.
In addition to drug trafficking, there is a problem with fuel smuggling, known as “Huachicolea”, which creates billions of dollars a year for groups behind illegal activities.
So far, the federal authorities have not commented on the killings.
They come against the background of the serious repression of the Presidential Administration Claudia Sheinbaum on Fentonil.
Puebla and Tkalakala are not prone to such extreme violence in the cartel, noticeable in other parts of the country.
In June, the bodies of 20 people – four of them beheaded – were found in a Synalo, a state covered by gang violence.
Seven Mexican youths were also killed during a firing in the Catholic Church in the Central State of Goanadyut in May.
In recent years, the violence between the cartels has increased, and hundreds of thousands of people have been killed and tens of thousands of missing, as the government first started using the Mexican military against gangs in 2006.
