According to a local official, six people were killed after a light aircraft belonging to a medical charity crashed in Kenya’s Capitol, Nairobi.
Charitable flying doctors Amref said the Seja plane from Wilson Airport flew at Wilson Airport on Thursday and was on the way to Hargeis in Somalia when he crashed and broke into a flame in a housing in Nayrobi.
Kiambi district commissioner Henry Wafula said six people were killed in the plane, including doctors, nurses and pilots – two more people on the ground and two others were seriously injured.
Investigators were sent to the scene to establish their business.
The aircraft lost both radio and radar with air movement only three minutes after takeoff, the Kenya Civil Aviation Office said.
There were four crew staff on board and Amref, said in a charity.
“At this time, we are fully cooperating with the relevant aviation bodies and emergency groups to establish facts related to the situation,” – said AMRF CEO Stephen Gitau in a statement.
Kenya Defense Forces and the National Police Service were located at the scene for search and recovery operations.
Patricia combo, an eyewitness, told the BBC that she was in the cabin with her friends, who were heading in Giur when they heard a loud blow and a red flash in front.
“Before I could take the phone to record that the flash was gone and the smoke was blowing. Then we heard people shout and run, and so we finished the trip.
“We then found it that it was a plane crash and saw a sunken hole that was created in the ground as a result of the accident,” she said.
In a separate incident, the train and the bus collided at the railway crossing near the city, Central Kenya, killed at least four people, reports Reuters, citing the Red Cross working.
The Kenyan pipeline company, whose bus participated in the incident said that it was leading the staff who had completed the morning shift in one of the training centers and that all the affected staff had been taken to the hospital for treatment.
