On June 3, South Korea will elect a new president to replace Juno Suka Yola, who was removed from the post of martial law in December.
The winners will be instructed to manage the political and economic case of the relocation of Jono, who plunged into the country into deep upheavals and distinguished deep divisions in society.
The election is also held against the backdrop of prolonged problems such as the threat from North Korea and the solution of the lowest birth rate in the world.
Here’s how the Eastern Asian nation is about 52 million people choosing its new leader over the next five years.
Yun was to fulfill the president’s duties by 2027, but his term ended with shame.

In 2024, the country’s fertility level or the average number of children, which is expected in life, was 0.75. While it has increased slightly since the previous year, it remains much lower than 2.1 to maintain the country’s population of 51 million.

For the first time in 18 years, there is no woman running for the president. The first woman running for the country’s president was Gan Suk-Ji in 1987, but she retreated before the vote. There were four candidates in the 2012 elections.
The election is scheduled for June 3, and the polling station will be opened from 06:00 local time (22:00 GMT) to 20:00. The South Koreans were allowed to vote from May 20 to May 25.
The results are expected to come after the polls are closed, and the winner will probably be known at the beginning of the next day.
When Yeon defeated Lee in 2022, he was announced the winner of nine hours after the voting closing, or at 04:40 in the morning after the election day.
It was the closest presidential competition in the history of the country, at which Yun won 0.73% in the vote.
The new president will immediately take office and, unlike many of his predecessors, will not have the benefits of the official transition from Yun.
