Liverpool has completed the signature of Alexander Isak de Newcastle, ending a saga that dominated this transfer window.
The 25 -year -old has signed a long -term contract in Anfield after Liverpool agreed to pay a British record transfer fee of 125 million pounds.
Speaking for the first time as red, he said, “It has been a long journey to get here. But I am very happy to be part of this team, this club and all that it means. It’s something I am proud of and I really want.
“I am happy that it has been done and that I can go back to work. I want to see my teammates and the fans and return.
“I think I have a lot to do, I think I have a lot to improve. I am a striker, but I always want to give the team as much as possible, mainly goals, but much more than that.
“I want to win -yes, (as simple as that).”
Newcastle published his own statement after the agreement was announced and only 37 words were reserved for the man who brought them to the Carabao Glory Cup last season.
He read: “Newcastle United can announce the sale of striker Alexander Isak in Liverpool for a significant British record transfer fee.
“The Sweden International joined the Magpies of Real Sociedad in 2022 and made 109 appearances in all competitions.”
It means that Isak achieves the move that has been all summer after making public his desire to leave Newcastle two weeks ago. Liverpool rejected an offer of £ 110 million in early August, after the player lost the club’s preseason tour in Asia with an apparent minor injury.
The Sweden International scored 23 goals in 34 appearances in the Premier League last term, as Eddie Howe’s men finished fifth to qualify for the Champions League.
The last term also saw that the club ended with a 70-year wait for a major trophy when they lifted the EFL Cup, with Isak who won a 2-1 victory over Liverpool in the Wembley final.
Its capture completes a remarkable window for Liverpool, which has been reinforced significantly after crossing the title of the Premier League last season.
Hugo Ekitike, Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong have moved to Merseyside this summer, and although performances have not been overly convincing in the first weeks of the season, Liverpool still exceeded the table with a 100 percent record.
Newcastle has begun in a proven way. They have twice marked in three games and they still have to win.
Finally they have made movements to replace Isak in recent days, however, by signing International Germany Nick Woltemade for £ 69 million, while a movement of 55 million pounds for Yoane Wissa is also expected to take place before the deadline.
Before, they were rejected by a series of players, including Liam Delap, Benjamin Sesko, Ekitike and Brian Mbeumo.
