Sierra Hull spends a lot of her year traveling from show to show, so she has its pre-League rites down to science.
“As you are on a journey many times, you have this big piece a day that is slow, it feels slowly moving,” told musician Bluegrass, 33, Weekly US. “Especially if you’re on a bus, you’re there, you wake up that morning, you make your coffee, kind of just relieving the day. And then many times, by the time you hit a sound check, it can… feel like the gas is put forward and everything moves quickly suddenly. “
In the years since the signing of her first teenage record contract, Hull has learned how to take a moment to breathe before hitting the stage.
“I’ve tried to remind myself of the importance of silence before going out and trying to land myself really,” he explained. “Trying to make sure I prepare myself a little earlier.”
Spring and summer, Hull will be on tour to support her new album, High toes wirewho dropped on Friday, March 7. She has been playing some of the album’s songs live for years now, but it is exciting for fans to hear the ways she pushed herself on this album – she first as an independent artist.
“This record, I felt I stepped out in this new space but tried to juggle in one hand my roots-my traditional love of a simple song-and the effectiveness of something that is very lyrical and not too complicated,” said Hull Us. “But there are also other things on the record that I was trying to look for something that would feel new and interesting to me in this new space I am in and not afraid to explore that.”

A ritual before the show
Growing up a Bluegrass child, you learn (everything) by doing. You learn by going to the Bluegrass jams and someone saying, “Hey, child, this is how you make a G chord” And you learn to sing harmony by sitting around singing with your mother or something, more than she is this regimented practice lesson. So, no one ever taught me or anything like that. It’s something I’m trying to incorporate more as I get older and think about longevity-awake to land myself, calm myself, make some vocal warming, try to ease to play so that I can feel calm and warm before the show.

The backhand is so fun, especially when you have friends in cities you play. That’s the beautiful thing about being on a journey … you have people across the country that you may only be seen alternately in a blue moon and if they are in town and can come to the show, (you can) sit around (and socialize). There is usually a lot of snack and drinking and things like that. Not always drinking alcoholic, but just like hanging out, very cold backbarts, lots of laughter. Oftentimes we may still be playing backstage music after the show does, so that’s the kind of fun. It’s so much hobby as our work. So sometimes the music still goes after the show if we really feel it, do you know?
Favorite song to play live
He moves a lot to me. I always try to put something in the set that we haven’t been doing so much. “Boom” is a very fun one right now to play live. I have a band full of higher virtuous musicians, so there is hardly anything I could throw at those guys who can’t play them, and so much of the music from night to night, you can’t kind of disappointing you. Much of it is just super cooling, take a nap between music – you have to focus because many of the arrangements are complicated. … But at the same time, there are some songs you see coming up on the set that feels like a breath of fresh air, and “boom” always feels that way. There’s something about that one, it flows so easily, there’s a little effortless to play and play that one that almost feels a little so that I can step outside and just be a listener.

Most dear souvenirs
One thing I started trying to do on my foreign travels is (collection of art). I have some simple but very meaningful pieces of art I’ve brought back from places like Italy, for example, or Germany – just being able to pick up small souvenirs and things like that may have had in my house and go, “Oh, cool, I got that in Paris. I got that in Rome. “
My favorite thing I’ve been doing, it’s not one single item, but I bought a polaroid (camera) last year and I did about a month in Europe for a trip, and I went, “Oh, Gosh, I’m going to make a scrapbook for this trip.” But I kept it going, so now I’ve been taking a polaroid or two almost everywhere I’ve traveled. We don’t often print pictures these days, so this is just like that direct thing, just for me, that I have this fun scrapbook from my travels and something I hope to continue throughout this year as well.
