Recently, both Rohit Sharma and Kohli retired from the test cricket, leaving a large lag on the Indian team ahead of England’s tour, where blue men would play five test games.
With Rohit Sharma moving away from the test cricket, the Indian cricket has a desperate need for a new leader who can guide the team from the front for the coming years.
And according to Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah is the right man for the Captaincy of India. He also said that the coming tests in England will be the official start of the Gautam Gambhir time, with most of the missing seniors of the workforce.
“He had no idea (Rohit and Kohli) would retire,” Ashwin said to his YouTube program ‘Ash Ki Baat’. “This will be a test time for the Indian cricket and I will say that this is really the beginning of the time of Gautam Gambhir.
“The team that runs along England will be a completely new team, a transformed team where Bumrah will probably be the largest player. It is clear that he is one of the options of captaincy; I think the captaincy deserves, but the selectors will make a decision based on their physical capacity.
“Their retirement will definitely create a leadership gap. No experience can be bought, especially in visits like this. Rohit’s composition and composition will be lost.”

Ravichandran Ashwin said both Rohit Sharma and Kohli retired at the wrong time. He said that Kohli had a couple more years away, while Rohit should have fired the format after the England tour. Said:

Ravichandran Ashwin also revealed his favorite performance from Rohit Sharma to Test Cricket and said:
“My favorite work of Rohit for India was when he played in England (2021). When he and Kl Rahul opened, we were 2-1 ahead because of Rohit. The opening collaboration was a gun. Between 2018-19 to 2022-23 it was the best phase of Rohit as a test blender.”
While talking about Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin named his twin tons in Adelaida in 2014 as his favorite performance, along with some other times. Said:
