The alleged killer Charlie Kirk “does not cooperate” with the authorities and did not confess to the shooting, the governor of Utun Spencer Cox told us the media.
Suspect Tyler Robinson, 22 years old, was taken into custody 33 hours after Kirk, a 31-year-old human rights activist, was shot dead in Arem.
Speaking in front of ABC NewsCox, Republican, said that people around Mr. Robinson cooperated with the investigation.
On Sunday morning, Cox appeared in various US news releases, where he also repeated concern about social media after Kirk’s death.
The governor also asked about Report New York Times Claiming that Mr. Robinson talked to others after firing through a messaging platform, including the allegations that he had joked about being a fighter.
Cox said ABC News: “All we can confirm is that these conversations certainly happened and they didn’t believe it was actually it.
“It was, all this joked until he knows until he confessed that he was actually he.”
Mr. Robinson was arrested on the night of Thursday after police surrender.
Kirk performed at the university of Uti -Valw at the open -air event, which took place on Turning Point USA – the organization he founded – when he was shot and killed.
The event was part of the American Return Tour, which was a performance that took it to several college campus across the United States.
Previously, Cox told The Wall Street Journal that Mr. Robinson, a native of Utah, was “deeply ideological with the left ideology”.
When asked during the CNN Union on Sunday, he said the information was offered by friends and family of the suspect.
“There is much more that we learn, and so much that we find out,” he explained, adding that there would be “much more evidence and information, and then.”
The governor said that among those who cooperate with the authorities is a neighbor around Mr. Robinson, who, he said, was also his partner.
He said that the partner did not possess knowledge of the alleged shooting, was “incredibly cooperative” and worked with investigators “right now”.
He also confirmed that the partner was currently “moved from man to woman”, but when asked by CNN, he said that the authorities did not yet know whether it was concerned with the investigation.
The testimony from Utah confirms that Mr. Robinson was arrested on suspicion of crimes of respectful murder, a crime of firearms and obstacles.
He is currently unburned to the Utah district prison.
“We interview all kinds of people – everyone who knows it – and we are trying to find out more about what motive was,” Cox said.
After Kirk’s death, Cox was known in calling for unity, seeking political tension, and expressed repeated comments that criticize social media.
He used to call the social media “cancer” and said CNN that in the US “deduce phones from classrooms” and more efforts to take into account the platform owners.
He called the shooting Kirk “direct attack on America” and said that the Americans needed “to see in the mirror and decide: will we try to do it better or we will deteriorate?”
Widow Kirk, Eric, Saturday gave a tear address In which she thanked the first defendant for her efforts and promised that “her husband’s voice would remain.”
The funeral service will take place on September 21 at a state farm stadium for 60,000 seats in Arizona, where Kirk lived with his wife and two children.
Kirk, a controversial figure in the US political discourse, was one of the highest right -wing activists in the United States and the US President Donald Trump’s proxy.
The US turning point is aimed at spreading conservative ideals in liberal American colleges and played a key role in compulsion to vote for Trump and other candidates in the last year’s election.
Kirk was a strong supporter of weapons, severely opposed to abortion, critical of transgender rights and promoted false claims against Covid-19.
His supporters said he was linked and understood their problems. But his views caused a fierce liberal criticism, and his detractors said that his rhetoric was harming people – especially in the LGBT community.
