Showrunner 9-1-1, Tim Minear, explains why a big character was killed in the latest episode. WARNING: DEATHERS BELOW FOR TERM 8, CHAPTER 15, OF 9-1-1. Thursday, April 17, Chapter 9-1-1 saw the death of beloved character Bobby Nash, played by Peter Krause. Krause has been involved in the show’s ensemble (…)

According to Minear, the decision to kill Bobby was “totally creative” and with nothing to do with krause himself.

“(It was) a very difficult creative decision because almost no one I love on this earth is more than Peter,” Minear told the outlet. “I think he needs to be Bobby for many reasons. The first reason is that he made sense. He didn’t feel arbitrary, because if you traced his character’s tragic arc, where he started and how he came to LA looking for an installation, he makes a kind of tragic sense to his character in a way in a way in a way in a way that he wouldn’t want another character.”

Minear further emphasized that Bobby’s death would affect “the story of each character in a way that another death from another character wouldn’t really.”

Bobby’s wife, Athena, was particularly emotional on Thursday’s episode as she said goodbye from the other side of the facility door.

“Angela was shocked. She was like, ‘You’re going to kill my husband?!’” Minear remembered Diversity of Bassett’s initial response to the script. “And I’m like, ‘and it’s going to create a lot of story for you.’”
