The ex -team India Batter Shikhar Dhawan was convened on Thursday by the Directorate of the application (ED) to interrogate in a money laundering investigation linked to an illegal online gambling application. The probe involves complaints that the platform used subrogated ads to raise users’ funds.

As part of the investigation, Dhawan’s declaration will be recorded under the prevention of the money laundering law (PMLA). The agency is testing several cases that involve illegal betting applications, including 1xbet, who are accrained to defraud Rupees’ crore investors and important taxes.

“These platforms violate multiple laws and indications of the Indian government, including tax evasion, money laundering and currency management law (FEMA), as money is transferred from the country illegally. It is estimated that around 220 million Indian users are engaged in betting applications and 110 million are regular users,” said the officer.
