Sheffield United Sack Ruben sells after losing the first six games of the season with Chris Wilder, who returned to shock at the bottom of the championship

Sheffield United has sacked the main coach Ruben after losing his first six games of the season, with Chris Wilder strongly linked to a return.

Currently, the Blades are at the bottom of the championship with zero points and lost 5-0 to Ipswich on Friday in the final game of Selles.

Selles, who has previously managed Hull and Reading, was designated in the summer to replace Wilder, with the former head now played by his third spell in Bramall Lane, according to The telegraph.

Wilder led the Yorkshire side towards an emotional distance from the Premier League last season, losing in a time of stoppage in Sunderland in the final of the play-off after guiding them at the third at the table.

“After a review of recent actions and taking into account the feelings of supporters, the change calendar has been made to give the club the best possible opportunity to improve the current league position,” said the club.

Several sources say that the leaves are ready to return to Wilder, only 88 days after their controversial dismissal.

Wilder has managed the club twice previously between 2016-2021 and 2023-2025, guiding the first flight in his first spell before being designated to help the club avoid relegation during the 2023-24 season.

Despite his relegation, he guided the club to the play-offs the following season, accumulating 90 points, as they were lost closely in another promotion.
