Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson did not get their spared from Shane Gillis’ Opening monologue at the Espy 2025 Awards.
The comedian, 37, took the stage at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on Wednesday, July 16, and put fun on the couple’s aged 48 -year -old gap after making a joke around Shohei ohtaniGambling scandal before when.
“Shohei is a once -in -a -generation talent. No one has been able to do what he does in so many jobs: Piser, Hitter and Bookie. Bookie is what Bill Belichick reads to his girlfriend before bedtime,” he quoted. “They do that, they read the very horned caterpillar, the small engine that could only need a pill fist and of course the goodnight boobs classic.”
After getting a little audience laugh, Gillis explained that he was not a “rubbish” Belichick.
“First, he is 73 and dates a 24 -year -old H0T child and people are criticizing. What happened to this country?” Gillis said. “We used to be a great country. Six Super Bowl won. It dates a 24 -year -old hot man. Maybe if you won six super bowls you wouldn’t sit next to a fat ugly dog wife.”
Following a mixed response from the crowd, Gillis admitted he should have broken that part of the joke.
Belichick and Hudson were not the only targets of Gillis’s speech. The stand-up also came Aaron Rodgers and its controversial status on the Covid-19 vaccine.
“Aaron Rodgers did not take the vaccine because he thought he would be bad for him and then joined the New York Jets,” he quoted. “Maybe he wasn’t right for everything.”

ESPN announced in June that Gillis-which is currently on an international stand-up comedy tour and starred on the Netflix series Tire Since May 2024 – he would host the 2025 awards show for the first time.
“Shane is not only one of the best comedians today but also a huge sports fan, which made it an easy choice for him to maintain the eSpys,” Craig LazarusVice President ESPN and Executive Producer of Espys, he said in a statement at the time. “We are delighted to work with him to create an entertaining show celebrating the best moments this year in sport and excited to see what will be doing on stage.”
Gillis, for his part, added, “I’m excited to be in the Espys this year. I like sports, so this should be a good time.”
Earlier this week, Gillis offered a behind -the -scenes glimpse of his preparations for the host NHS.
“I’m excited about it,” he said during his appearance on Monday, July 14, Jimmy Kimmel alive! “I still have a lot of work to do. I have to figure it out.”
Gillis also shared how the experience was different from anything he has done in the past.
“I’ve never done a thing where someone else writes jokes, and they employed writers and they are like, ‘These are the jokes,’ and they are, like, self-valuing to me,” he explained. “So I’ll be at home and I’ll get an email and it’s like, ‘Hey, I’m Shane, I’m hosting the 33rd Espy Awards, I’m a big dumbass, fat.’ And you are like, ‘Wait, who wrote this?
