Meyers, 51, discussed ABC’s decision – published on Wednesday, September 17 – during his “Look closer” Segment on Thursday, September 18, episode of Late night with Seth Meyers.
Before addressing directly with the movement, Meyers began by picking fun in her own history with President Donald Trump.
“I want to say before we start here, that I have never admired and respected Mr Trump,” said Meyers. “I have always believed that he is a seer, a pioneer, a great President and an even better golfer. If you’ve ever seen me say anything negative about it, just if that is. I am told that some clips of me on the internet make jokes about it from a few years ago. These are clearly deep.”

As a result of Kimmel being extracted from air waves, Meyers promised to “still make our show the way we have always made, with enthusiasm and righteousness.”
“It is a privilege and an honor to call Jimmy Kimmel a friend of mine, just as it is a privilege and an honor to do this show every night,” said Meyers. “I wake up every day and I count my blessings that I live in a country that at least claims to appreciate freedom of speech.”
Meyers called ABC’s decision as “a central moment in our democracy.”
“We all have to stand up for the principles of free expression,” he added. “There is a reason there is free speech in the very first amendment. It stands above all else.”
Meyers also ridiculed Trump’s securities in the past for a free speech, insisting he would “bring him back.”
“Trump promised to end the government’s censorship and end free speech and does the opposite, and has experts worried that we are rapidly accelerating to oppressive autocracy in the Russian or Hungarian style, much faster than anyone could have predicted,” Meyers argued.
ABC announced the decision to Remove kimmel from their lineup immediately on Wednesday. “Jimmy Kimmel alive is saved in advance for an indefinite period, ”a spokesman for ABC confirmed Weekly US.
The decision was made after Nexstar Media, one of the largest owners of TV stations in the US, threatened to break the show in response to Kimmel’s recent comments about Death of Conservative Political Activist Charlie Kirk.
Kirk was shot and killed during speaking engagement at Utah Valley University on September 10. He was 31.
In a statement on Wednesday, Nexstar said he was “strongly opposed to recent comments made by Mr. Kimmel about killing Charlie Kirk and will replace the show with other programs in her ABC -related markets.”

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the Gang Maga desperately trying to characterize this child who murdered Charlie Kirk like anything other than one of them with everything they can to score political points of him,” said Kimmel during his monologue. “Between the fingers pointing, there was grief.”
Kimmel Trump also criticized his behavior following Kirk’s murder.
When Trump was asked how he was “catching up” after Kirk’s death, he told reporters that he was doing “very good” and changed the subject to the construction of a new dance room in the White House.
“This is not how an adult mourns the murder of someone who called a friend,” Kimmel claimed. “This is how a 4 year old mourns a goldfish.”
