Will there be new characters?
The Duffer Brothers explained that it was likely that many newbies would not be in Hawkins for the final season.
“We do our best to resist (add new characters) for season 5,” said Matt Indiewire In August 2022. “We try not to do so so that we can probably focus on the OG characters.”
Ross, for his part, added: “Whenever we introduce a new character, we want to make sure they are going to be an integral part of the narrative. We have a great cast of characters here, and actors, and any moment we spend with a new character, we take time away from one of the other actors.”
Despite the concern about excessively expanding their universe, the Duffer Brothers Linda Hamilton cast in a secret role. She teased her part in talking to us in February 2024.
“When you really buy into something, you don’t see yourself in it. So I think in a way, it was a kind of ruining the show for me,” he said. “I never watch (project), once I’m in something. It would completely pull me out of the reality to see myself there. So I won’t watch (season 5).”
In July 2024, Nell Fisher, Alex Breaux and Jake Connelly also joined the final season of the show.
