High potential Does come back – with more chapters – but what can fans expect from season 2 in terms of plotting plot turns, on -screen romance and more?
High potentialwho first performed in September 2024, following a high potential intellectual called Morgan (Kaitlin Olson) Who joins the LAPD to help solve murders. She is paired with Karadec (Daniel Sunjarta), which is suspect to start about how Morgan can assist the large crime unit But ultimately starts to rely on it.
He broadcast the end of season 1 in February and confirmed that former Roman Morgan was still alive after getting lost for more than a decade. Morgan, however, focused more on a new cause where the suspects managed to go away – and then found a way to present her own without her knowledge.
Executive Producer and Showrunner Todd Harthan spoke to Weekly US For the purpose of submission new mystery before the second season.
“The number 1 thing we are trying to build in the writers’ room is a compelling case that will also be truly lovely to watch Morgan’s complex brain take you through,” he explained at the time. “That is then praised by these amazing detectives around it. We know the audience – and we as the writers have a great desire for that serial mystery.
Harthan continued: “Finding that balance is difficult which is why you have staff of people who come in and keep you honest. They tell me, ‘If we reveal that, then it overtakes the next episode and increases the balance.’ So it’s difficult and is one of the harder parts of building every chapter of the show.
In spite of the cliffers, high potential already has been renewed for a second term. Keep scrolling to everything know:
Daniel Sunjata and Kaitlin Olson in ‘high potential.’
Disney/Mitch HassethIn January, High potential It was renewed for a second term, which will include 18 episodes. It is slate to show for the first time in the fall after season 1 brings record breaking numbers at ABC.
In addition to Olson and Sunjata, Javicia Leslie, Mediterranean Deniz, Amirah J, Matthew Lamb and Judy Reyes returns. High potential also appeared Taran Killam, Garret Dillahunt and Jd pardo in circular roles. Meanwhile new -entrants include Steve Howey and Mekhi phifer.
“I listen to the fans, I read their responses because I want to know what people love. It has an impact on what we’re talking about and sometimes what we focus on,” said Harthan Us In February about having the opportunity to expand the story with more episodes in season 2. “I always count on the 13 (Order Order). I am delighted that it is not eight or 10 episodes on broadcast and you get those few extra hours. I usually map the 13, and if they call, then I have money as it expands and does some stavanone episode.”
After Exs Morgan was teased in the first season, the story will only expand from here.
“We’ve talked about it a bit like, ‘Wow, we have the time, and hopefully now that the show is a success and we could go to get that actor or that actor.’ But the truth is, I haven’t had a deep conversation with Kaitlin about it – and she’ll have a strong view. Us. “So the short answer is no. We have some favorites and actors I really respect which would be great.”
Harthan is looking forward to Bring more characters Into the fold in season 2, adding, “Just the casting opportunities – not only for guest star roles – but circular roles. We’ve never met Morgan’s mother and father either. We haven’t met anyone. So Roman is an important and incredible piece of casting.
According to Harthan, Olson has a hand in casting. “Kaitlin is a magnet for talent. There are a lot of people going, ‘Oh, I’m allowed to act alongside it? That looks like a very good time.’ And they are right, therefore, ”he continued. “She is a blast. But hope you are right (that an actor’s interest in a hotel stars on High potential). I want to see that list of people who want to come and dance with us. “
Roman may not return immediately.
“I think frustration is a good thing with an audience. It’s a healthy frustration – don’t put too much of what they want too soon,” Harthan pointed out about the mystery “deepening”. “I would lie completely if I said that I had all the answers to that mystery. The wonderful thing about welcoming other brains to the room is how we make sure we don’t grope this ball and we tell this story in the most satisfactory way that it can be imagined. There are some cool things coming.”
One chapter in High potentialSupporters noted how the dynamics of Karadec and Morgan reminded them of other fictional couples on procedural shows Take years to get together.
“I’ll definitely say I don’t have the pretty real answer to where they’re going to go. In terms of the will-won’t-they between Karadec and Morgan, that’s up to our writers’ room,” said Sunjata Us In November 2024. “I think they are going to play the long game with that particular story line.”
Sunjata said he did not rule out Karadec and Morgan a platonic remaining – for now or even forever.
“Honestly if we ended like five seasons, Karadec and Morgan could remain very good friends with a joint professional respect that cares for each other deeply and perhaps flirting with the idea of some form of romantic interaction,” he noted. “But if that never happened, that would be a very cool way to take it too.”
In the meantime, Harthan is more inclined to explore what viewers were responding to.
“You never know. I don’t disappoint my care about those things either. I don’t get too confident until your audience dictates many of the things you do. What do they have a great desire?” Harthan shared with Us for his plans for the potential fan lovers. “I may be humiliating for slow planning things, but I love a slow burn. Like, selfishly, I love it.”
Harthan explained to Us wasn’t sure how Morgan and Karadec are Chemistry would be examined. “The biggest reason is because when you have a chemistry like that – and two amazing actors like that – I just feel so many different story trails,” he explained. “We can go down this early in the show. And what I love about them is this energetic friendship that starts to breed the kind of loyalty that then breeds the kind of unconditional friendship where people are willing to sacrifice almost anything to get each other’s backs. I love that charm.”
He added: “We’re going to write that for a while. Even if you’re at some point falling in love with someone, you may also be more in love with the partnership and friendship. And you may be scared enough of the risk of crossing certain lines.
He introduced the end of the season 1 of David Giuntoli as a serial hijacker with potential – intended Pun – to become the “great bad serial” season 2.
“ Us. “She is even underestimated by people who think they are smarter than her and then look out. So we have to create a character that will be fun to watch her playing chess with.”
Harthan hopes the shaking will make the show “feel predictable.”
“At the heart of her, Morgan is a human being so good and empathy. Then she sees someone out there in the world she knows is great but uses that to do so much harm, and that’s a scary thing,” he continued. “We wanted to make sure he hit all those notes without ever feeling like we reached into the darkest of serial killer stories. That’s not the show.”
“I learned (in season 1) that I have this amazing cast for which you can write anything for. They are actually,” shared Harthan Us. “With that saying, what is going to be very different in season 2 is that we don’t have the legs of our sea yet.
At the time, Harthan was teasing how season 2 would offer “rich fertile land” to the expanding show.
“We’re excited about writing some of the other characters more. But I think the biggest thing I learned about how we build each of these episodes is why are we worried? Why are you worried about this particular case or how it echoes not only Morgan but all character,” he told us. “It ensures that we do not get lazy with those stories we choose to tell every week. I try to look at each episode as its own little film, and this year we have the luxury of the lessons we learned – good and bad – and plan and conspiring the season so that we do not waste any of these chapters. However, they will only be treated.”
