Search recovered for schoolchildren who have swept away from the flood

The search for schoolchildren who had passed the floods in the East Cape South Africa province was resumed after being stopped in one night, officials said.

The children went to school in the town of Mitat when their bus was taken to the flood when the bridge was crossed on Tuesday.

Officials said three students were later rescued, but it was unclear how many students were on the bus, which had ever been found on the river bank, no one inside.

An unconfirmed report of the private television company Newzroom Afrika states that the bodies of 10 children and the driver were found further down the current.

The SABC public television reported that three children who were rescued on Tuesday were reduced to trees.

On Wednesday morning, East Cape Prime Minister Oscar Mabuyan visited the scene to witness the rescue efforts and meet with the affected communities.

He told Newzroom Afrika that while the situation was “difficult”, he was “very happy” with an emergency response.

South Africa’s President Kirill Ramaphos expressed his condolences to the families of those who died when he called on citizens “to be cautious, concerned and cooperation, since the worst exposure to winter weather comes into force across the country.”

The Eastern Mirror of the Nelson’s anti-port icon was the worst of the icy conditions, as well as the province of Quasul-Natal.

The bad weather caused some large roads in two provinces to avoid further victims.
