Seamus Coleman signs an extension with Everton carrying DEFENDer 17 years old with Toffees

Everton’s captain, Seaamus Coleman, has committed to a 17th season with the club after accepting an extension of one year.

The 36 -year -old right, which joined the Toffees in 2009, has become a fantastic servant during its long duration at Goodison Park.

Coleman has participated in 428 games in all competitions for Everton, and its 369 appearances in the Premier League are the more than any player in the history of the club.

“I love Everton, so keep playing for this special club means everything to me and my family,” said the Republic of Ireland International.

“Like all our passionate fans, I have lived and breathed what has been difficult for the club and put my heart and soul to do my best to help us go.”

His previous contract expired at the end of June, but the new agreement claims that Coleman will be part of Everton’s transition to his new home at Hill Dickinson Stadium after 133 years at Goodison Park.

“Thanks to the hard work of many people, we have been able to enter our magnificent new stadium and open the way to a brighter future under the new ambitious owners, which I want to be part of,” he added.

“After a disappointing time with the injuries last season, my goal will be to work hard, spend as much time as possible on the pitch and help Everton anyway.”

Coleman was limited to only five appearances in the league during the 2024-25 season due to injuries. Despite his time on the sidelines, he played a leadership role out of the pitch, briefly taking advantage of the provisional management with the U18 coach, Leighton Baines, after Sean Dyche’s dismissal in January.

“His leadership, his professionalism and his humanity are not the same,” said Everton’s manager David Moyes, who originally signed Coleman from Sligo Rovers for £ 60,000 in 2009.

“He has helped bring the club for some difficult periods in recent years and his influence on the locker room has been key to this.

“This could be a real change period to the club and I want someone to help deliver the messages of what is to be Everton’s footballer. Seamus has always done so and I know he will continue to do so as we move to a new age.”
