“Is that worth it?” – BBC correspondents evaluate Trump’s state visit

There is no doubt that Donald Trump was more delighted with the day he spent in Windsor Castle than his talks with Sir Keir Starr in Shashka.

And this is not slightly for the UK Prime Minister’s hospitality during this state visit, which Trump and his team sought to praise.

The Starmer residence is undoubtedly an impressive meeting place, and even the Red Devil of the British Army flew by huge British and US flags to welcome the US leader in Bakinghashire’s countryside.

But as much as Trump seems to be honest as Starmer, with their warm relationship at the exhibition at a joint press conference on Thursday, the president was completely defeated when the king and the queen conducted on Wednesday.

According to his Chief of Staff Susi Wilz, his final highlight was a difficult evening banquet for 160 guests in the Holy George Castle Hall.

For Trump, which is very deep and long -standing the kingdom, it is difficult to compete with the toasted king. No matter how many planes are laid for you in the sky over the checkers.

Such visits of the state allow the presidents and the prime minister to contact one at a more personal level and suggest to the relevant employees to build labor relations. They are also an opportunity to demonstrate the closeness of the relationship on the big stage.

In this sense, it was a smooth swim for both sides.

During the joint press conference, there was no real clumsy that had the potential for exposing the districts.

If two men were asked about one of these questions Britain’s plan for the recognition of Palestinian statehoodTrump said he disagreed, but he also gave the stall a big smile and a warm slap on his back when the Prime Minister condemned Hamas.

And on another potentially difficult topic – the dismissal of Peter Mandelson as the UK ambassador to his relations with Jeffrey Epstein, Trump was unusually silent. He said very little and immediately postponed to Starmer.

Both leaders discussed gas and Ukraine when they spent almost an hour, talking alone without having any of their employees in the room. And although during the press conference they were very friendly, it also quickly became clear that none of them had changed their position on key issues where they disagreed.

Watch: Pompe, theatrical presentation and protests because Trump receives royal treatment in Windsor

There are restrictions on what influence any leader on Trump can have, regardless of the success of such a trip.

Inside the checkers, I asked Wils, the main staff of the President how much difference she would make the UK’s opportunities to influence the US policy on trade, tariffs and international affairs. Her answer was sincere – not at all.

However, Trump was very much liked by this state visit, he is not going to change his position on important global issues with a -in an unforgettable night, spent at Windsor Castle.

But in the end, the pompous and theatrical performance seems to have at least earned the right to respect with Trump without paying diplomatic punishment.

This can be expensive to get to the other side of the US president, but, carefully moving with the relationship, the UK managed to avoid the executed tariffs for high trade trading, which were imposed on other countries. Meanwhile, the Starmer was not degrading and did not receive a humiliating nickname.

While it was never going to descend into such an inconvenient contraction we sometimes saw in an oval office this year – not only with Ukraine Zelensky, but also with other leaders – it is noticeable that more calm Trump approached questions during the final press conference than he most often in Washington.

Did the Prime Minister of the UK play his map Trump by organizing this magnificent state visit? It was choreagated impeccably and clearly pleased with Trump and the first lady.

And although Starmer may not have won the opportunity to change the mind of the president, he may disagree with him without raising relations. For this reason, the fall now feels further than if it is earlier.
