A few weeks ago, Sarah Jessica Parker he took to Instagram to share the many things she carries with her on days she films And Just Like That. The mother of three had hand sanitiser, Dior lip gloss, hair ties, Papermate pens and a Tootsie roll lollipop in her specially painted canvas tote – essentials many other mums could carry too. But what caught my eye was something nostalgic: a retro drugstore smell memories, Skin Smoke Perfume.

Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes on movie and TV show sets? You might think it’s all glitz and glamour, even when the cameras aren’t rolling, but that’s not always the case. Apparently the stars handle everyday tasks and organize their own luggage from location to location. How is (…)

As Parker pointed out each item, she noted where she got them from and why she considers these to be essential favourites. As for the fragrance, the age-defying 59-year-old actress said, “I mean … Bonne Bell Skin Musk. There’s not much more to say about that,” with a heavy dose of IYKYK to her tone.

If you don’t remember, Bonne Bell launched the legendary lip smacking balms that were in every Hello Kitty Gen X wallet as a child. He also made beautiful perfumes, like Skin Musk, that all the cool kids would wear. As the eldest of Gen X herself, SJP is so enamored that she is still can’t leave home without it! Unaware that it was still available, I needed to find this perfume immediately. As it turns out, Bonne Bell no longer produces it, but Skin Musk is still available at Walmartand shoppers say one spritz is enough to time machine you to your pre-teen years. Even better, the rebate is only $13!

Have you ever wanted to smell like your favorite dessert? (I know I have.) It’s not an outrageous idea – gourmand fragrances (scents with edible notes such as chocolate, vanilla, caramel, toffee and honey) have been gaining popularity. Turns out, many people want to smell beautiful, and Le Monde Gourmand perfumery specializes in (…)

I’m not alone in feeling nostalgic about the soft floral, sandalwood and musk fragrance. Legions of shoppers have been delighted to find the leather scent, saying it never fails to garner compliments. One devotee said, “I have used this musky cologne for over 40 years, back to when it was owned by Bonne Bell. It’s still my favorite, and I still get compliments on it. It’s a great cologne at a great price.”

Another shopper agrees, writing “I used to wear this in my younger days, and when I sprayed this today, it brought back so many memories. And it had the same smell as usual and it lasted for half a day. It is not over you. It’s a warm and inviting scent and you only need a little. It’s such a lovely scent. I would recommend it to anyone.”

This fragrance also has the rare distinction of being a year round winner. Because we are not so patiently waiting for Carrie Bradshaw to return to our TV screens with AJLT season three, we can at least have the olfactory pleasure of smelling like her. Fans say the bottles go out of stock from time to time and are not sold in stores, so buy them while you can.

Although I’ve always been skeptical of celebrity skin care lines, I’m a fan of celebrity fragrances. The industry has seen a major revival since the glory days (the early 2000s) when almost every famous person created their own signature scent. There wasn’t much upheaval in the celebrity fragrance space in the 2010s, but lately, there have been (…)
