India star Sanju Samson’s father Viswanath has once again taken a shot at the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) as he has accused them of “conspiring” against his son. Viswanath has gone all out against KCA ever since his son was omitted from the Kerala squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Reports revealed that KCA got the big call after Sanju Samson failed to attend a mandatory preparatory camp. Later, KCA president Jayesh George also slammed the batsman for his role in the whole drama. George claimed that Sanju Samson only had himself to blame after he walked off the field with just a one-line text message.
However, Viswanath is not at all impressed with KCA’s decision and its president’s recent comments against his son. Senior Samson has doubled down on the association and accused them of tarnishing his son’s reputation.
A worried Viswanath has also said that KCA could use Sanju Samson as a scapegoat for any crime. He also urged the other state associations to give his son a chance to represent them.
“I came to know about six months ago that they were planning something against Sanju. The KCA was planning things in a way that he left Kerala. We couldn’t fight them. There are directors there. You can’t talk to them again, you. I can’t challenge them. My son is not safe.
“They will blame everything on Sanju and people will believe it too. So, I really want my son to stop playing cricket in Kerala. If any state wants to give my son a chance, saying ‘Sanju, come play for us, I am willing to make that call,” Samson Viswanath told Sports Tak.
Speaking further, Viswanath defended his son, saying he is just an individual against a “big and powerful association”. He claimed that KCA might come up with some conspiracy theories against his son in the coming days. He also made it clear that he has no intention of seeing his son represent KCA again in the future.
“Sanju is just an individual while the KCA is a big and powerful association. I fear conspiracy theories will be invented against my son. I don’t know why they are persecuting us. We did nothing wrong. for them or for to any other person.
Sanju, in his life, has never enjoyed anything other than cricket. Except for the cricket field and practice, he has not focused on anything else. He has dedicated 30 years of his life to cricket but now he is isolated. I’ve had enough; I want to remove him from this association (KCA),” said Viswanath.
Meanwhile, Sanju Samson represented Team India on Wednesday (January 22) when the Men in Blue took on England in the 1st T20I at the Eden Gardens. Although Samson couldn’t score much in the game, he did give India an explosive start.
With India chasing 133 runs, Samson smashed Gus Atkinson for 22 runs in the second over, before departing for 26. India won the game by 7 wickets. The second T20I of the five-match series will be played on Saturday (January 25) in Chennai.
