Rajasthan Royals has been shocked by the sudden departure of Rahul Dravid. Dravid’s departure calendar has created a great buzz because it is directly linked to Rajasthan Royals captain, Sanju Samson, who had recently asked the franchise to release him.
It is said that Sanju Samson asked the franchise to trade or release it -ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, as it now wants a new start elsewhere. This led to speculations that Samson is not satisfied with Dravid and the team’s management, and even during the IPL 2025, it was visible.

According to Cricbuzz, Sanju Samson’s relationship with the Rajasthan Royals has reached a stage where he has openly requested the franchise that explored a trade agreement for him. Samson wants a new direction in his career and is not satisfied with the place where things are in the franchise.
However, the Indian drummer cannot move away from the franchise on his own. Samson continues to be forced by a contract with the Royals for another two years, which means that the decision is not totally in the hands of the star of Kerala.

Unless the same Rajasthan Royals decide to trade Sanju on another team or release it in the auction pool, Samson will have no option to continue with the team, even if it is not satisfied with it. At the moment, there are three possible scenarios for the RR pattern.
The first is that Sanju could be marketed in another franchise if a proper agreement is presented. The second option is for the Royals to leave it in the auction pool, where it will be free to incorporate -any team to buy it. The third possibility is to continue the franchise, despite being dissatisfied with the current configuration for the next IPL 2026 and possibly in 2027.

Currently, the second option – which is released in the 2026 Auction Pool – seems to be the most likely result, but the Cricbuzz report suggested that nothing can be confirmed yet. It all depends on how RR management plans to manage the situation after the shocking departure of Dravid.
Well, the drama inside the Royals camp is far from finishing. With Dravid outgoing and Samson looking for an exit, the franchise could go to one of the most dramatic shakes in the history of the IPL. They are all ready to have a new main coach and possibly a new captain next season.
Above all, Samson lost the start of the IPL 2025 with injuries, only as an impact player later. Riyan Parag entered as captain, shining with the bat annotating 393 runs to 32.75 and a strike rate of 166.5. But his leadership declined, gaining only two wins in eight games.
