Sanjay Manjrekar urges Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma to play county cricket ahead of England tour

But if both Rohit and Virat intend to continue, and the selectors want to back them, I would like them both to play county cricket and convince people that they will accept the big call if they are ready. Retirement is up to the individual while leaving people out is up to the selectors”, said Manjrekar while talking to Star Sports.

Underperforming stars: Kohli and Rohit fail to deliver

Kohli and Rohit were expected to lead the charge in this crucial series, especially with India’s aspirations to qualify for the finals of the ICC World Test Championship 2025. Kohli’s century in the first Test in Perth gave Indian fans hope as he seemed to regain some form. However, his performance declined dramatically thereafter. In the remaining four matches, Kohli managed just 85 runs, amassing a total of just 190 in the series, far short of his usual standards. Similarly, Rohit’s performance was woeful. The Indian captain played in just three matches and scored 31 runs, adding to the frustration of fans and analysts.
