There’s one thing that actor Sam Rockwell Wishing him to do differently when he looks back at his film career.
During Friday, June 20 episode The podcast “Happy Sad Confused”Rockwell admitted that he wished him to have a chance to work on screen with the recent Philip Seymour Hoffman.
“I had two opportunities, perhaps three, and they were squeezed and I regret it,” admitted Rockwell, 56, on the podcast. “There’s a couple (of actors) – I could have worked with Nick Noltecould have worked with Kurt Russellbeen really kicking myself. Richard Jenkins. They’re still out there, there’s time. “
Rockwell continued: “But Phil, we were very close, we were good friends and directed me and it was just one of the men. He was the guy.”
The actor who won Oscar Hoffman died in February 2014 of drug overdoses at the age of 46. He was found dead in the bathroom of his flat in West Village, the NYPD confirmed to Weekly US at the time.
Rockwell went on to describe the late star as “so much work in front of him and was a young man and was special” during the appearance of the podcast.
He also praised Hoffman’s acting skills, especially his ability to harness emotions in his work effectively.
“He had emotional power and George C. Scott or John Malkovicha kind of emotional ferocity, those kind of things Laurie Metcalf makes or Gary Oldman or John Malkovich”Said Rockwell.“ He had that emotional power – that’s what my teacher used to call it, emotional power – and then it was also transformational and could transform. “

“He was a great inspiration and a great theater director,” said Rockwell, per Good morning America. ”He inspired me and I could go on for an hour for Phil Hoffman.
Rockwell added, “Philip Seymour Hoffman was a good friend and it was a huge, huge inspiration on me.”
