Ruben Amorim is still confident that Manchester United will “get many wins” after they had been retained to a tie in Fulham in Fulham this afternoon.
The United advanced when a corner of Bryan Mbeumo flew to the back of Fulham striker, Rodrigo Muniz, but Emile Smith Rowe left the bench to claim a well -deserved part of the hosts’ boots.
Amorim has chaired only seven wins from his 29 League League matches of United -And you still have to leave the brand this season after the 1-0 home defeat last weekend in Arsenal.
His team once again showed the flashes that went on the right track and Amorim was in a good mood after the game in Craven Cottage.
He told Sky Sports: “We just want to win games. Players know they are playing in a club where they have to be better. Today they have worked very hard and all week in training. I’m really sure we will have many victories.”
Amorim was pleased with his team’s efforts, but he granted that there was still room to improve in execution.
“We can do it better, but we are doing the effort, so it is the most important thing for me,” he added. “At times we did well, especially at the beginning of the game. After the goal we were just thinking about the result. We were fine until the goal and then we were not smart at that time.
“We have to think about the performance. I know the feeling of a player who has to win all the games. We lost a penalty, we lost some possibilities and then we marked and we had to defend this goal. We have to focus on our movements and play to the end.”
The United was the best side in the first half, but saw that Captain Bruno Fernandes caused a penalty on the bar. Finally they took the lead 13 minutes after the break, but Amorim was disappointed with the way to play with the advantage.
“I think we set the goal and then we forgot how we play,” BBC Radio 5 Live told BBC. “We want to win so badly, and this is a good feeling, we scored a goal and everyone on the pitch thought,” We maintain the advantage and try to win the game. “For me it is the time we have to enjoy the most and push the opponent. We tried to press the opponent and we left a lot of space.
“We have to grow a lot in a team. For me the most important thing is that during the week they worked hard, today we worked very hard and we will improve. The moment that the game changed was our goal.”
Fernandes cut a frustrated figure after the game and revealed his anger in a minor who met with referee Chris Kavanagh who forced him to repeat his routine before losing the penalty.
“It was upset.” Portugal’s midfielder said. “As a penalty, you have your own routines, your things you do.
“It bothered me because the referee did not apologize.
“I was very successful in the ball. I also put my foot under the ball and that’s why it ended up passing over the bar.”
Amorim rushed to defend his country. “He wants to win so badly,” he said about the former CP Sporting man. “He is our leader and he has so much responsibility. I felt he lost the penalty and was thinking -during the game. We have to go ahead and play the game.”
