Rosie O’DonnellDaughter Chelsea O’Donnell Filed to change her name following her multiple arrests last year.
Chelsea, 27, submitted paperwork to legally change its name according to the records of the court seen by Weekly US on Thursday, April 10. The application was made at the end of January and a hearing has been scheduled for May this year.
The Daily Mail was the first to break the news. The outlet reported that Chelsea wanted to change her last name back to a name before marrying her hometown, which is Neens. (Rosie adopted Chelsea as a baby in 1997.)
Us reached out to Rosie for comments.
Rosie, 63, and Chelsea have had their fair share of unusual things over the years. The actress recently shared a long poem from her Subtack page That was the title of “My Chelsea daughter.”
“She wants her privacy / I’m her mother / The story out there / people judging and asking / why you didn’t try more … / you should have done something else … / I will never have … / if she belonged to me,” read the poem.
The passage also mentioned that Chelsea had two additional mother figures, her hometown and Ex-wife Rosie. Kelli’s carpenter.

Rosie was also referred to Chelsea’s legal trouble and her daughter’s battles with substance mistrust. (Chelsea arrested three times in 2024 onwards Multiple Felony Paymentsincluding drug possession. In December 2024, Chelsea were ordered to maintain its sobriety while out on bail.)
“Her journey / published in public by a series of poor decisions / on behalf of everyone / when she was her young teenager,” Rosie’s piece is reading. “It’s hard to come back from some things / why don’t you talk about it more / how can I / what I would say.”
Rosie – who is also the mother of Parker, 29, Blake, 25, Vivienne, 22, and Clay, 12 – shared that Chelsea wanted to change her last name to “a name before marrying her birth.” Although the decision does not “make sense” for Rosie, she promised to stay supportive of her daughter.
“It’s not about me / I’m here – she’s not here for me / a wise woman who once said / a few months ago / judge in Wisconsin / told her that she was proud of her / she had completed treatment,” she wrote.
Rosie also approved Chelsea for winning her high school diploma and being on the path towards recovery. Our own star Alliance revealed that Chelsea had allowed her to share the poem in public and included a picture of her daughter smiling while in court.
