Roseanne Barr He remembered the traumatic injury he suffered after being hit by a car as a teenager.
“The hood decoration went in my head and I got a brain and head contrast,” the actress, 72, said on the episode on Monday, June 23, Bunnie xo‘S. “Blonde Dumb” podcast. “I was in a coma and all those things and when I woke up, I had some sort of malfunction in the brain.”
The incident happened when Barr was about 15 and was in hospital for “about nine months.” He explained that when he woke up from the coma, he was unable to lie despite “being a liar like everyone else.”
“The next day it was, exactly, I had to tell the truth,” he said. “Because I couldn’t remember my cheek.”
Barr divided her to be caught in many lies so in the end he had to “tell the truth” because “it’s simpler.” The injury led to Barr realizing that the truth was better to say and hear in the long run.
“I want to hear the truth so I don’t have to rust by lie and the other person’s bulls *** to find out which bulls are lying *** they tell me. That wastes my whole life,” he reflected. “Just tell me the truth. I can deal with the truth. I’d rather have the truth and I’d rather tell the truth.”
Barr was joking that being honest was “saving a lot of time,” which gives her “more time to shop on Amazon.”
Unable to lie was the only issue that Barr claims she had dealt with after waking up from the coma. The accident also caused “brain damage” and “seizures.” The Roseanne Alum was also suffering from a “discontinued problem” that she left to “be completely separated” from her body. However, Barr claimed that the condition “helped” in acting.
“When I enter the same specific mind space, I can write 150 jokes in an hour because I just focus,” he said. “So there’s an intense focus.”
