Romania says the Russian drone broke the airspace – NATO’s second country to report such an invasion.
On Saturday, Romanian fighters were in the Russian attack in Ukraine and were able to track the drone near the southern border of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense said.
President of Ukrainian Alodimir Zelensky stated that the invasion could not be a mistake – it was “a clear expansion of the war on the part of Russia.” Moscow did not commented on Romanian claims.
On Wednesday, Poland said she had shot down at least three Russian drones who entered the airspace.
In her statement, the Romanian Ministry of Defense said she had discovered a Russian drone when two F-16 aircraft were monitored abroad with Ukraine, after “Russian air attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure on the Danube.”
The second was discovered in 20 km (12.4 miles) southwest of the village of Chiley, before disappearing from the radar.
But it did not fly through the settlements and did not pose an inevitable danger, the ministry said.
Poland also responded to Russian drones on Saturday.
“Preventive aviation operations – Polish and allied – began in our airspace,” said Prime Minister Donald Tusk in a report on X.
“The ground air defense systems have reached the highest state of readiness.”
Earlier this week, the Russian Defense Ministry stated that there were no “plans” on the Polish soil.
Belarus, a close Russian ally, said the drones who entered the Polish airspace on Wednesday were miserable after their navigation systems were killed.
On Sunday, the Czech Republic announced that a special operations department had sent to Poland.
The unit consists of three MI-171s helicopters, each capable of carrying up to 24 staff and full combat equipment is presented.
The move in response to the invasion of Russian into the eastern flank of NATO, said Czech Defense Minister Gian Chernokhov.
In response to the last invasion of the drone, President Zelensky stated that the Russian military “knew exactly where their drones are heading and how long they can work in the air.”
He consistently requested Western countries to strengthen sanctions in Moscow.
US President Donald Trump also weighed a violation of airspace earlier this week, saying that he was “ready” to impose more stringent sanctions, but only if NATO countries met with certain conditions, such as stopping the purchase of Russian oil.
In February 2022, Russia launched a full -scale invasion of Ukraine and slowly progressed on the battlefield.
Trump has been efforts to end the war, but Russia has strengthened the attacks on Ukraine, as President Vladimir Putin returned from the Trump summit in Alaska last month.
