Rohit Sharma’s India mocked? Pat Cummins breaks the silence in celebration of Travis Head’s ‘In the hole’

Australian national cricket team skipper Pat Cummins spoke about Travis Head’s celebration after taking the wicket of Rishabh Pant in the second innings of the fourth Test. He said it was a joke inside the camp and not something to make fun of the Indian national cricket team.

Travis Head once again proved to be a huge obstacle for the Indian national cricket team in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. However, this time, he was involved with the ball and changed the entire course of the game in favor of the Australian national cricket team.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant bring India back into the game after three early wickets

Chasing 340 runs, after the Indian national cricket team lost three quick wickets, it was Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant who brought the Indian national cricket team back into the game. The duo joined hands and batted superbly, taking the team out of trouble and putting pressure back on the opposition.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant ensured that the Indian national cricket team did not lose a single wicket in the post-lunch session as they were quite solid with the bat. The duo added 88 runs together and with the way they were going, it looked like they would help the team tie the game.

Travis Head removes Rishabh Pant and comes up with a unique celebration

But the change of situation came when the Head received the ball in the last session. He proved to be the man with a golden arm when Rishabh Pant was removed. It is fair to say that the wicket changed the course of the game and also led to the downfall of the Indian national cricket team.

Travis Head bowled a short toss ball, which tempted Rishabh Pant into a big shot, but he failed to make the proper connection as he was caught at long on. This saw the pressure mount on the Indian camp as they lost seven wickets for just 34 runs in the final session and lost the match by a margin of 184 runs.

What caught the attention of many was Travis Head’s reaction after taking the wicket. The Australian national cricket team batsman gave a unique celebration as he pointed his finger at his other palm, which was shaped like a hole.

This led to Travis Head facing a lot of criticism for his celebration. There were even calls from fans and pundits for the ICC to take action against the batsman. It became the main topic of conversation, but skipper Pat Cummins has ended the debate around it by explaining it.

He’s got his finger so hot he’ll put it in a cup of ice – Pat Cummins on Travis Head’s ‘in the hole’ celebration

Pat Cummins said it was Travis Head’s celebration, where his finger was hot, and he put it in a cup of ice. He explained afterwards that the batsman took wickets in one of the games and went straight for an ice bucket to stick his finger in to taunt Nathan Lyon. Speaking to reporters, he explained:

“Oh, sorry! Yeah, okay! I can explain it. His finger is so hot, he’s going to put it in a cup of ice. Yeah, that’s what it is. It’s usually the running joke. It was a the Gabba or somewhere, where he also got a port and got straight to the fridge, he gets an ice bucket, he puts his finger in it and walks in front of Lyon (Nathan Lyon) this, he thinks it’s very funny, like that that would have been it, nothing more.
