Former Australian Captain Ricky Ponting has supported Arshdeep Singh to do it well in the next five-game test series against England. The left arm’s pacer has obtained his maid test of the Indian team.
Arshdeep Singh has been playing in India since 2022. By the way, he debuted in England in England, and will expect to have the opportunity to debut in the next series. The star of Punjab has represented India in the two white ball formats so far.

In front of the series, Ricky Ponting has supported Arshdeep Singh to do it well in the longest format of the game. Currently, Ponting and Arshdeep are making their trade for Punjab Kings at the IPL 2025 in progress. Talking to ICC, the former Cricleter achieved praise in the age of 26 because of its ethical and technical strength.
“I had a good opportunity to get to know him very well. He is a great character to have around the team,” said Ponting.
“He is a fun -loving boy. He is very relaxed in the group, which is great. That’s what we all like.
“As soon as the squad was announced the other day, the tests, the first thing I did at our team meeting was to assure -I recognized that Arshdeep had been chosen in front of everyone and only congratulated him in front of everyone. I think he deserved well. I think he will do well in England,” he added, “he added.”
Ponting urged India to begin Arshdeep Singh since the first test. Being “very skilled”, the Australian legend said that Dukes’ ball would be in English. He also said that he would surprise him that the direction of the Indian team does not take advantage of the possibility of having a left arm pater in the squad.
“Actually he would have his test team at first. He is very skilled,” said Ponting.
“I think the Dukes ball will also help the UK. And I just think having this difference, having a left shipowner on your team, I think it will be something that, if India will not, it will be a surprise for me,” he added
Ponting also highlighted the trajectory of Arshdeep County in the United Kingdom, saying that experience will be useful for India. Arshdeep played Kent in the county championship last year and had a good time. Picked up 13 doctors in five division 1 games.
“He has played in Cricket Comarcal and also knows the conditions,” said Ponting.
“Arshdeep is about six feet-four, so it will have a decent rebound … As we know in England, the ball still moves when it is 30, 40 or 50 years old. To have someone who has this swing bowling capacity and a left-hander, I think this is something that the Indian team should definitely look at the tour,” he added.
Arshdeep also went well at the ongoing IPL. He has collected 18 doctors so far and has played a key role in the impressive Punjab Kings exhibition at IPL 2025. For the first time since 2014, Punjab Kings was qualified for the playoffs and finished the league stage at the top of the table. On May 29, Royal Challengers Bengaluru will take the first qualifying.
