RFK Jr. stops in Texas to visit a 6-year-old girl who died of measles

Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) Robert F. Kennedy -Youth. On Sunday, he stopped in Texas and visited the family of a 6-year-old girl who died of measles virus in February.

Kennedy confirmed a visit to Texas in a message on X, in which he urged people to get a measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine against the background of increasing measles.

“I came to Gaines, Texas, today to comfort the Hildebrand family after the loss of my 8-year-old Dais’s daughter,” Kennedy wrote in the message. “I met my 6-year-old Cayley Fer after she died in February. I also developed bonds and deep commitment to other members of this community during this difficult time.”

Kennedy said his intention was to visit the Gaine district, comfort the families and be with the community while they mourn.

But he also said he was there to support officials in Texas and learn how HHS agencies can become the best partners to control Flash of measles.

As of Sunday, there were 642 measles cases in 22 states, and 499 of them are in Texas.

In March, Kennedy launched a team from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to help strengthen the local and state reaction to the outbreak, as well as supply pharmacies and state clinics with MMR vaccines and other supplies.

Kennedy also had a team with local schools and medical institutions to support contact investigations and refer to communities to answer health questions.

“The most effective way to prevent the spread of measles is the MMR vaccine,” Kennedy wrote in a social media report. “I talked to Governor Ebott, and I offered a constant support for HHS. At his request, we redistributed CDC teams in Texas. We will continue to follow Texas benefits and offer similar resources for other victims of jurisdictions.”

The gloomy Texas measles contains six newborns and toddlers in the kindergarten in Lubbok, which has experienced positive in the last two weeks, NBC News reports.

Two of these children are among 56 people who have been hospitalized with measles in the area since the disease began to spread in January.

About one to three of every 1000 children infected with measles dies from respiratory and neurological complications, according to CDC.
