The Indian Cricket National Team is scheduled to begin a new age under Shubman Gill in England without two of its biggest batters, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who announced their retirement from the longest format of the game last month.
As India will face England in a series of five -game tests, from June 20 in Leeds, the legendary Australian Cricleter Ricky Ponting has shared his opinions on the young team’s test trip without the iconic beatings Kohli and Rohit Sharma and his replacement in the line.

Ponting acknowledged how difficult it will be for the Indian Cricket National Team to fill the massive gaps that Rohit and Kohli leave the test cricket. But the former Australian Captain believes that they are better prepared than most nations to manage this transition.

Ricky Ponting said that ICC Review Magazine: “It is always very difficult to replace players so they have been playing for so long as a test cricket. But if some country can do it and do it quickly, India can because of the amount of young talent they have.”
With a long list of talented young people who were already shining at the big stage like IPL, the main coach of Punjab Kings hopes that India will have depth and skill to move forward without slowing down.
He quoted the example of Yasasvi Jaiswal, who has had an instant impact on the international cricket, as a proof that the future is already on the Indian side.

The legendary Cricleter said, “I have been seeing it first hand for ten years around the IPL, and we have seen the appearance of Jaiswal and these types of boys who have entered the international cricket with India and we have done it very well.”
However, Ponting warned India about the real challenge, and this is the experience that they will miss after Rohit’s retirement and Kohli shot.
However, he believes that Kl Rahul and Jasprit Bumrah will help the next generation to advance during this transition phase.
He also explained: “The side of the skill is something to be replaced, and I think India will replace the side of the skill easily, but the experience is the big deal that will be missing. So now, even with a young captain in Shubman Gill, he will still have an experience with KL Rahul, Bumrah and these types of boys.”
