Ravichandran Ashwin’s sudden decision to retire from the 38 -year -old Indian Premier League (IPL) has left many dazed, after retiring from the international cricket last year. Ravichandran Ashwin brought the Super Reis de Chennai (CSK) on his shoulders in his first days of glory, but announced that he hit his withdrawal from the IPL just after a bad season with them.
The ex-Ronda Indi made a comeback to Chennai Super Kings last year, but things did not go as planned, as Ashwin managed only seven doctors in nine games with an economy over nine and an average of more than 40 at the IPL 2025. It scored only 33 runs last year.

In the meantime, former Indian selector Kris Srikkanth has surprised Ashwin’s time of retirement. He believes that the Indian former sprout could have played the IPL for at least two more years, especially taking into account his physical fitness and his rich experience.
Reacing on his YouTube channel Srikkanth said, “I’m not sure why Ashwin retired. If I were in place, I would have continued to play IPL at least two more years. Of course, for Ashwin, money, fame or name is not a problem. But he could have played the IPL for another two years and then he has moved to the other leagues.”

However, Ravichandran Ashwin has openly said that he is now eager to explore T20 Global Leagues. But Srikkanth warned that no world league can match the visibility, fame and prestige of the IPL.
The ex -Indian selector said, “other leagues can be played for good, but what he gets in the IPL, other leagues do not approach.”
He also greeted Ashwin’s unforgettable contribution in the first two triumphs of Chennai Super Kings title in 2010 and 2011, as well as his T20 Champions League wins in 2010 and 2014.
Srikkanth said, “Ashwin has been one of the best IPL cricketers that India has produced. His name in fame was through IPL and CSK, especially when he continued to dismiss Chris Gayle for fun.”

In the end, the former World Cup has said that Ashwin’s decision to retire in half of the three-year IPL with CSK was unexpected and suggested the commercial drama at the five-time camp camp, but can give him chances to play or even work as a coach in foreign leagues.
Well, Ashwin may have retired from the IPL, but it is still very connected to Chennai Super Kings. It is still the head of the CSK academies and the high performance center. CSK has the option of keeping Ashwin in these roles, regardless of his decision to play leagues abroad.
