The Final of the World ICC Test Championship (WTC) has already found a house in England, but the former main coach of India, Ravi Shastri, believes that it is time to think greater. However, Ravi Shastri admitted that the Lord has added prestige to the unique WTC title clash, but he believes that this tent game could also be played in front of the packed stages.
With the end of the WTC still growing in a global attraction, the former Indian Captain said that England and Lord’s were the perfect launching place for the ICC World Test Championship, as this historic site guarantees a passionate crowd regardless of which teams are playing.
But the famous broadcaster believes that once the WTC final will build the drum that really deserves around the world, it should be moved to the big Cricket stadiums like Melbourne and Ahmedabad to attract mass crowds and make the event popular.

Ravi Shastri suggested that stages such as the Melbourne Ground of 100,000 Melbourne places in Australia and the Narendra Modi of 132,000 places in Ahmedabad, which is the largest cricket stadium in the world, can be the perfect place for the WTC final to increase global attention.
Ravi Shastri said the Wisden Cricket podcast: “I think it initially starting, it is good if it is here (Lord’s) in fact. Once he gets popularity and the eyebrows he deserves, then he can start to change. But I think the MCG can be an ideal place for a World Test Championship end.”
The former Indian coach said, “Ahmedabad can be an ideal place for the WTC final. Basically, the places where you can draw a crowd. Because Lord’s is not a stadium of 100,000 places. So what team is playing, you know that you will get a good crowd.”

Especially the last three finals of the WTC have been housed in England. The first final match saw India fell to New Zealand at the Rose Bowl in Southampton. In 2023, Australia crushed India in the oval to lift the WTC Mace.
And earlier this month, the history of the Cricket was made in Lord’s as South Africa, directed by Tila Bavuma, ended with a 27-year-old ICC trophy drought with an impressive five-wicket victory over Australia.
On the other hand, it is said that England could continue to be the ideal place for the World Test Championship (WTC) finals for the following two cycles. According to the Future Tours program of the ICC, the final of 2027 WTC is already blocked for Lord’s, with the end of 2029 and 2031 also probably in England.
The BCCI had shown an interest in hosting the final of 2027 WTC in India, but it was assumed that its offer rejected. The CPI seems to prefer England due to its consistent participation of a crowd and a strong support for neutral test matches, which makes it a reliable choice for the greater confrontation of the test cricket.
