Qualcomm Monday said he plans to launch processors designed for data processing centers for artificial intelligence that would refer to Nvidia ‘S chips.
Nvidia graphic units (graphic processors) have become the most important component in the data processing center used to prepare huge AI models that use nutrition as chat. They often combine with the central processing block (CPU) – the market on which the Intel and Amd.
Qualcomm said it plans to launch a user processor for data center, which can connect to the Nvidia graphics processors and software. The link to the NVIDIA infrastructure is a key to any player who hopes to cut into the data center, given the relevance of the American giant semiconductor for AI.
The ad actually means re -entering the data centers for Qualcomm after previous efforts in recent decades has had little fruits.
In 2021, Qualcomm acquired NUVIA, which develops ARM design processors and was key to US Tech Titan’s efforts with data centers.
The data processing centers market remains very competitive. Great cloud computing players such as Amazon and Microsoft are already developing and deploying their own processors. AMD and Intel also have a strong presence.
Last week, Qualcomm signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Saudi AI Frim Humain to develop data centers by joining many technology companies involved in transactions in the region. Humain will work within the state investment investment of Saudi Arabia.
Login to the data center is part of a broader qualcomm strategy for diversification of its business, which traditionally prevails the sale of processors and modems for smartphones.
Under the CEO of Cristiano Amon, Qualcomm went into chips for cars as well as PC – The market is historically dominated by Intel.
On Monday, Amon said there are more than 85 PC designs that are sold or in developing Snapdragon X Series chips, which were first announced in 2023.
Qualcomm breaks its chips as electricity and is able to run AI processes on the device, not in the cloud where they are usually done. Some of the AI ads on the device include faster AI and more safety applications as data should not leave the equipment.
