Putin takes Victory Day with hard security and short ceasefire

Vladimir Putin heads the Victory Day of Russia with a parade on Red Square and strengthened security after the days of Ukrainian strikes sent to the capital.

Chinese President Xi Jinging is one of the more than 20 international leaders who have made a journey to Moscow.

Russia was declared a one-sided, three-day ceasefire, which coincides with the lush 80th anniversary of the event, which Ukraine rejected as a “theater show” intended to protect the parade.

The military of Ukraine said that on May 8, it was subjected to thousands of attacks since the ceasefire. Russia insisted that the ceasefire is observed and accused of Ukraine of hundreds of violations.

On the days ahead of the proposed truce, Moscow and Kyiv exchanged missile strikes.

Flights to airports across Russia were canceled and about 60,000 passengers were left over After the Ukrainian bombing.

There are great restrictions in the center of Moscow when Russia is preparing to mark the victory of the Soviet Union over Nazi Germany.

Russia says 27 world leaders are present at the military parade, where thousands of troops will pass by the Kremlin and Moscow, will demonstrate some of the last weapons.

Earlier, Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky warned that he could not guarantee the security of those attending the event and urged the heads of state not to go to Moscow.

Mikhail Samus, a Ukrainian military analyst and director of a new network of geopolitics research, said the BBC that it believes that Ukraine will refuse an attack on the parade, mainly from the presence of foreign leaders.

But if Ukraine decided to do so, it will be a legal military purpose, Samus said.

During his evening address on Thursday, Zelensky stated that Ukraine was “ready for a complete ceasefire starting now.”

“But it must be real,” he said in the video on X. “No missile and drone, no hundreds of attacks on the front.”

He urged Russia to support the ceasefire and “prove his willingness to stop the war.”

Ukraine has accused Russia of violating its own truce thousands of times because it was supposed to come into force on Wednesday night.

On the second day, Ukraine stated that nearly 200 fights, eighteen Russian air strikes and nearly four thousand cases of shelling by Russian troops, occurred on the front line.

In Primorsky, the village in the Zaparitzhi region, the woman was killed after a Russian drone hit her car.

The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that all groups of Russian forces in Ukraine “completely stopped combat operations and remained in previously occupied lines and positions.” However, they responded “mirrored” to violations of Ukrainian forces.

Zelensky repeatedly rejected Putin’s proposal as a “game” and called for a longer truce for at least 30 days supported by Ukraine’s allies in Europe and the United States.

Writing about social truth on Thursday, President Donald Trump once again confirmed the call for the unconditional ceasefire and warned of further sanctions for any party that did not subscribe to it.
