Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a temporary ceasefire in the war in Ukraine.
The Kremlin said the ceasefire would work from the morning of May 8 to May 11 – which coincides with the Victory celebrations to mark the end of World War II.
In a statement stating, Putin announced a ceasefire “based on humanitarian reasons.”
Ukraine has not yet answered.
The translation of the statement states: “Russia believes that the Ukrainian side must follow this example.
“In case of violations of the ceasefire, the Ukrainian parties to the Russian Federation will give a proper and effective response.
“The Russian side once again announces its readiness for peace talks without conditions aimed at eliminating the root cause of the Ukrainian crisis and constructive interaction with international partners.”
The Kremlin announced a similar, 30-hour truce for Easter, but while both parties reported the fight, they accused each other of hundreds of violations.
Attempts in Ukraine have been attempted more than 20 times – they all failed in the end, and some minutes after the entry into force.
