Star India Mixer Shreyas Iyer has been officially designated as captain of Punjab Kings (PBKS) for the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The announcement marks a major step for the 30-year-old, who has been in phenomenal form both as a player and as a leader over the past year.

Iyer, who captained Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to an IPL title in the 2024 edition, he was released by the franchise in the subsequent off-season. Punjab Kings secured his services for a staggering INR 26.74 crore during the IPL 2025 auction, making him the second most expensive purchase of the season.
