PULV to defend the controversial WBA title against Wardley

The WBA has ordered its regular heavy weight champion Kubrat Pullev (32-3, 14 kos) to defend against Fabio Wardley’s number 1 (18-0-1, 17 kos). 43 -year -old Pulev maintains a secondary belt with the World Boxing Association, while Oleksandr Usyk is the leading champion and the most prestigious belt. It is below Wardley to approach this level to fight for a secondary belt.

The WBA should have eliminated the “regular” belt because it confuses fans and does nothing for those who have the title. Pulev caught his “Regular” WBA strap last December, defeating Mahmoud car For a unanimous decision of 12 rounds to Sofia, Bulgaria. It is a bad look that the WBA still has its “regular” title.

The age factor

Although the 6’4 “Pulev seemed good for someone of his age against a minor fighter, is not yet close to the level he was years ago, when he challenged the IBF champion, Ibo and Wbo, Wladimir Klitschko, for his three belts on November 15, 2014.

The last solid victory of Pullev against a good heavy level B champion of level B was in 2016, when he dominated Derek Chisora, beating him for a 12-round decision. Everyone has been beaten since then has been low -capacity marginal combatants, and is not at the top of the division tree.

It is unclear why the Wardley promoter is upset that Pulv is fighting for a belt that has no real sense. Fabio, 30, should fight the best possible instead of challenging secondary belts.

Wardley is an eight -year -old professional who does not have the kind of talent that would allow him to overcome any of the heavy heavyweights of high level of division. It lacks that spark that must have a shot to beat any good.

Wardley resembles a British heavy weight, but has been given a high ranking based on his victories about other fighters in his country. The problem that Fabio had with the 38 -year -old traveler Eric Molina In 2021 he showed where he is in talent. You could say from seeing the Wardley’s performance against Molina that the wheels came off if you got with someone better than that.

Wardley arrives in the first round of the victory over the 271 pound Frazer Clarke on October 12 in Riyadh. Clarke is not a worldwide fighter and is not a big problem that Wardley eliminated it.

Who Wardley should fight

Instead of Wardley’s promoters aimed at Trinket titles, they should focus on combining these heavy weights to try to develop it significantly:

– Philip Hrgovic
– Bakhodir Jalalov
– Martin Bakole
– Richard Torrez Jr.
– fly
– Frank Sanchez
– Andy Ruiz

I doubt that Wardley could beat any of these fighters, but at least he would fight against quality boys to attract the attention of the fans. Fighting by secondary titles against a 43 -year -old Pullev is silent. I do not respect this movement. It only causes fans to see Wardley as they have no confidence in dealing with the good fighters of the division and, considering how he looked at Molina, I can understand.
