‘PR lets him take credit’: Manoj Tiwary hits back at India head coach Gautam Gambhir

In a candid and revealing statement that has woken up the cricketing world, former Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwary has openly criticized India’s current coach Gautam Gambhirattributing their success and leadership style to strategic public relations and questioning the fairness of the distribution of credit in the team’s achievements.

Manoj Tiwary calls Gautam Gambhir a hypocrite

Tiwary accused Gambhir of hypocrisy, claiming that the current India coach does not practice what he preaches. Tiwary pointed out the disparity in how players are treated based on their affiliations, specifically mentioning that Rohit Sharmawho is from Bombay, has been given more prominence. Tiwary contrasted this Jalaj Saxenaa player who performs well but doesn’t receive the same level of recognition or support because he stays quiet instead of speaking up for himself. With this, Tiwary highlighted the perceived favoritism and lack of fairness in the selection or representation of the team.

“Gautam Gambhir is a hypocrite. He does not do what he says. The captain (Rohit) is from Mumbai, and Abhishek Nayar is from Mumbai. Rohit has been pushed to the fore. There is no one to speak for Jalaj Saxena. It works well , but shut up.” Tiwary was quoted as saying by News18.

Gambhir didn’t guide KKR to the title single-handedly: Tiwary

Tiwary felt that Gambhir should not be credited just for leading Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to their IPL title win as the success was a collective effort. Tiwary points out that the players like him Jacques Kallis, Sunil Narineand he himself also made important contributions to the team’s success. However, he felt that Gambhir has been given undue credit due to the environment and PR efforts that portray him as the sole hero, overshadowing the team’s collective effort that led to the championship win.

“Gautam Gambhir did not guide KKR to the title alone as we all performed as a unit. Kallis, Narine and I all contributed to the cause. But who took the credit? There is an environment and PR that allows Gambhir to take all the credit.” added Tiwary.
