Pope Pope Leo XIV pursued “heart” negotiations with US Vice President JD Vance, the Vatican reports.

This happens a day after Vens – a Catholic practice – joined other dignitaries and thousands of believers at the Pope’s introductory Mass on Sunday.

After Pope Leo became the first American to head the Roman -Catholic Church earlier this month, it turned out that he seemed to have caused vene critics and a wide migration position of Trump administration.

In his statement, the Holy See said that both sides expressed satisfaction with the relations between the US and the Vatican during the negotiations to face to Monday.

The meeting also discussed religious freedom and cooperation between the church and the state, and US Secretary of State Mark Rubio also participated.

The statement continued: “Finally, there was an exchange of views on modern international issues with a general call to respect for humanitarian and international law in conflict zones and support for negotiations among the parties.”

The papal audience lasted 45 minutes, said the press -secretary Vnes. He was walking behind closed doors without journalists.

The Vatican said Vans also held positive negotiations with Archbishop Paul Richard Gallager, who is responsible for the Holy See diplomatic relations.

In February, the X account called Leo shared criticism of the White House plans about the mass deportations of migrants.

In the same month, the account also shared a reference to the opinion entitled: “JD Vance is wrong: Jesus does not ask us to rank his love for others.”

The Vatican did not respond to previous requests for BBC News to confirm whether Pope Leo’s account is owned.

On Sunday, Vnes said the United States was “very proud” in Chicago, born in Chicago.

“Of course, our prayers go with him when he starts this very important work,” the vice president said.
