Pope Francis opened the Holy Door in St. Peter’s Basilica to usher in a special Jubilee Year

Pope Francis launched a special jubilee year for Roman Catholics during a Christmas Eve ceremony at the Vatican.

The Pope marked the beginning of the anniversary by opening the usually bricked Holy Door in St. Peter’s Basilica.

Jubilees only happen once every 25 years, and more than 30 million pilgrims are expected to head to Rome to walk through the doors and ask for forgiveness for their sins.
