PM Andrew Holness will win a rare third term

Prime Minister Jamaica 53 -year -old Andrew Halls won a rare third term after Monday’s election sailed to victory.

The Caribbean Election Commission stated that the Labor Party won 34 places, beating the National Opposition Party (PNP), which provided 29 seats according to preliminary data.

PNP candidate Mark Golding has admitted defeat.

Holness campaigning on the promise to reduce the income tax rate from 25% to 15%, while Golding said he would increase the income tax threshold.

Holns thanked the voters for “this historical third term” and for “trust, your faith and your faith in the vision of a stronger, safer, more prosperous Jamaica.”
