Phil Collins is an eight-time Grammy Award-winning drummer and singer, famous for his solo career and time with the English rock band Genesis, but his whole family has found ways to make it in entertainment too.

Phil has five children, sharing his adopted daughter Joely Collins and his son Simon with his first wife, Andrea BertorelliLily’s daughter and his second wife Jill Tavelmanand sons Nic and Matthew with third wife Orianne Cevey. All five have carved out careers in music, acting or sports.

After decades behind the drum set, Phil revealed in the December 2024 documentary Phil Collins: Drummer First that his health would keep him from performing on the drums further. His family, meanwhile, have stuck by him as he deals with the “shock” of the physical toll a drumming career has taken.

Nicolas Collins, Phil’s second son, helped produce the documentary, which detailed the injuries sustained as a result of Phil’s performance.

“Musicians, people in bands in general had this idea that they were invincible,” Nic explained in the film. “I think that’s really what it is with my dad is this kind of sense that you’re a drummer, you’re invincible, you do what you do. But you don’t know it will take a toll in the long run.”

Nic himself has continued the family tradition of playing the drums, even performing with his father on tour with Genesis (Phil continues to perform as the band’s lead singer).

June Collins

Phil’s mother, Junewas an agent credited with discovering English actors Wild Jack (Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves) a Keith Chegwin (Shaun of the Dead). He died in 2011 aged 98.

Greville Collins

Phil’s father, Grevilleagent for the London Assurance Company. As Phil wrote in his 2016 biography, Not Dead Yet“he wasn’t a man of heart or a particularly obvious lady,” he joked that he “obviously” got his looks from his mother. Greville died in 1972 aged 65.

Clive Collins

Phil’s brother, Clivea cartoonist, satirist and illustrator who appeared in publications ranging from Readers’ Digest i Playboy.

In 2012, he became a Member of the Order of the British Empire in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

“He has won cartoonist of the year. I shared a bedroom with him when we were boys and he was always taking pictures,” Phil recalled at the ceremony. “He used to make Christmas cards and birthday cards for the family.”

Clive died in 2022 aged 80.

Carole Collins

Phil’s sister, Carolewas a professional ice skater before following in their mother’s footsteps and becoming an agent.

Lily Collins

Lily she started as an actress at the age of 2 on a BBC sitcom Growing Pains. He later appeared in films like The Blind Side a Inheritance before winning his role as the title character on the popular Netflix series Emily in Pariswhich premiered in 2020.

Lily talked about her strained relationship with her father growing up in her 2017 biography, Unfiltered: No Shame, No Regrets, Just Me.

“Because my father was often gone, I never wanted to do anything that would make him stay away even longer,” she wrote. “I became particularly careful about what I said and how I said it, afraid he would think I was angry or didn’t love him. And the truth is, I was angry. I missed him and wanted him to be there.”

Today, both share a closer bond. On Father’s Day 2024, Lily wrote a heartfelt note to her father via Instagram.

“I’m sending you more hugs than ever and I’m so grateful for you today and every day,” she wrote. “My words won’t be able to do him justice but… you know. I love you to the moon and back again.”

Joel Collins

Phil legally adopted his daughter Joely when he married Bertorelli in 1975.

He studied acting in his home city of Vancouver and in London, and has appeared in a number of films and television shows. She won the award for Best Actress in a Canadian Film at the 2004 Vancouver Film Critics Circle Awards for her role in the Canadian drama. Love Crimes Gillian Guess.

He married her Stefan Buitelaar in 2008 and the couple share daughter Zoë Amelie.

Zoe Amelie

Phil’s only grandchild, Zoë, was born in 2009.

“Life has gone to a new level for me,” said Phil when she was born, according to the Daily Mail. ‘I love it and I’m so happy for Joely and Stefan. They are really happy.”

Simon Collins

Like his father, Simon is a drummer and former lead singer of the prog band Sound of Contact.

Simon has released four studio albums, including 2008’s U-Disasterwhich includes Phil and former Genesis member Steve Hackett on one track each.

Nicholas Collins

Nic has been drumming since he was two years old. By the time he was 15, he was playing on stage with his father Not Dead Yet journey In 2023, his band, The Effect, released their first single “Unwanted.” The Impact is also a feature Trev LukatherToto’s guitarist son Steve Lukather.

Matthew Collins

Matthew is an aspiring soccer player, currently playing for Austrian club WSG Tirol. After Matthew made headlines in a 3-0 defeat to Harry Kane’s Bayern Munich, his coach Manuel Ludwig they admitted signing him without knowing who his father was.

“We Google, the players we take on trial to find out about their past careers,” he told the Daily Mail. “We only found out then that Matthew is Phil Collins’ son… we haven’t signed him as a publicity stunt. It just depends on his football ability.”

Phil himself admitted that although Matt loves music, “he loves (football) even more.”
