The lead official of the vaccine in the US Power Office and Medicines (FDA) was forced to leave work, US media reports.
On Friday, Peter Marx offered his resignation in the health and human services (HHS) after receiving a choice between resignation or dismissal.
“It became clear that the secretary did not want the truth and transparency, but rather, he wants to obey his misinformation and lies,” Mr. Marx wrote in a letter of resignation received by several US media, citing the new leader of Robert F. Kennedy.
Mr. Marx was one of the healthcare providers to help develop COVID-19 vaccines in Trump’s first administration.
In a statement by the BBC, HHS replied that if Mr. Marx “does not want to put up science to the gold standard and promoting radical transparency, then he has no place in the FDA under the strong leadership of Secretary Kennedy.”
His resignation comes into force on April 5.
In his letter, which was first reported by The Wall Street Journal, Mr. Marx stated that he was leaving a “heavy heart” and noted that he was concerned about growing a measles flash in Texas.
“(This) reminds us of what happens when the confidence in well-established science, which underlies health and well-being, explodes,” Mr. Marx wrote, according to the outlet points that received the letter.
As of Friday, two measles were killed in the US and 523 cases – 400 of whom are in Texas.
Mr Marx held the position of Director of the Biological Science and Studies Center in the FDA since 2016. It has been working with the FDA since 2012.
Kennedy headed by HHS, which controls FDA, is a famous vaccine that has The history of dissemination of health information, which, according to scientists, is false.
Earlier this week, Kennedy announced the plans for HHS restructuring, partially reducing 10,000 employees, including those working in the FDA and the Center for Disease Control (CDC).
