The Brazilian end Antony has found a new motivation since he joined Real Betis on loan, and the main coach Manuel Pellegrini says that the 25-year-old arrived in Spain determined to prove himself.
Antony was signed by Manchester United for € 100 million from AJAX, but he scored only five goals from the Premier League in two and a half seasons.
However, this account has already equalized in 17 appearances in LaLiga for Betis. He also scored four goals in the impressive club conference league, before the final of Wednesday against Chelsea.
Speaking before the final in Wrocław, Poland, Pellegrini explained how Antony reached Betis with a point to prove.
“I talked to him before I came to Betis. He told me he did not play because he was not happy, but he had a lot of complaints about what he did too.
“I wanted to take revenge and here in Betis I think he had it and he did it in the way we know he can do it because it is not easy to play as a 100 million player.

“And Antony is a very good player. I am sure this is a huge moment for him in Betis to help improve his career.”
The resurgence of Antony has brought a fresh spark to Betis, but its long -term future remains in the air.
The Spanish club has expressed its desire to keep the Brazil international permanently, although financial obstacles could prevent this from happening.
While Betis operates on a limited budget, their Chelsea conference league opponents are in a different financial league. However, Pellegrini hopes that his team will be able to compete with an equal foot.
“We do not think we are David and Goliath,” said Betis’s head.
“I think tomorrow we will have exactly the same chance of winning the game. We will start from the first minute to try to do it.
“No matter how much a budget of a team or the other team. In 90 minutes on the pitch, we will have exactly the same opportunity to win this match.”
Betis has a long history in Spanish football, winning in the League in 1934-35 and lifting the King’s Cup three times, the most recent of 2022. However, European platforms have prevented them so far, with this final marking the first time they have gone beyond the quarterfinals of any European competition.
