Pakistan national cricket team fast bowler Shaheen Afridi had a cryptic response after being asked about his break from the Test series against South Africa and West Indies. He laughed when he heard the word rest and took a subtle dig at PCB.
Pakistan national cricket team fast bowler Shaheen Afridi has been completely sidelined by PCB from the Test setup. The premier fast bowler played the first Test of the series against the England national cricket team in August last year and was dropped from the squad for the last two matches along with Babar Azam, Naseem Shah and Sarfaraz Ahmed.
Shaheen Afridi was not part of the South Africa Tests, and PCB did not name him in the squad for the West Indies series.
While Babar Azam and Naseem Shah returned to the squad for the South Africa Test series, Afridi was missed, with the Pakistan Cricket Board declaring that the pacer had been rested due to handling the load of work He has also not been named in the West Indies series.
During the press conference after the PSL draft, the reporter asked Shaheen Afridi, “Shaheen, you were rested during the South Africa Test series, and you are also not part of the West Indies series” .

“I think if we remember the positive things more, it will be good for our team” – Shaheen Afridi
Shaheen Afridi spoke about the Lahore Qalandars squad for the upcoming edition of the PSL. He spoke about new boss Darren Gough, saying his presence will fit into the team’s environment and they can learn from him as well.
Afridi also spoke about the importance of having local players in the team. He was aware that the performances of local players have a big impact on results and stressed that you need to look at the positives. He added:
“Look, Alhamdulillah, we won 2 seasons. If you look at it, PDB local players have done very well. When your local players do well, the team wins. There are ups and downs. You lose and you win the game .
“I think if we remember the positive things more, it will be good for our team. Since Darren Gough has come in, hopefully as a bowler we will also learn more. Sameen Bhai can tell us a lot about him. So , I think the combination is very good.”
Shaheen Afridi will be eager to set the stage ablaze for Lahore Qalandars in the upcoming edition of the league. The fast bowler had a tough season last year as a bowler and skipper. PSL 2025 All ready to play between April 8 and May 19.
