‘Path of Exile 2’ Players Call Bullshit on Elon Musk’s Video Game Stream

A few minutes in Elon Musk’s livestream of his hardcore character in the video game Path of Exile 2Someone told him the ASCII art of Mario taking a crap on the name “Elon”. The fact that the richest man in the world and a self-professed epic gamer didn’t know he had to disable DMs before starting a livestream was weird. But it was a current full of weirdness that pointed in one direction: despite his claim to be a high level. PoE 2 reader, Musk didn’t seem to understand the basics of the high-level game.

Musk loves video games. Keep a replica of the Diamond Back .357 pistol from Deus Ex: Human Revolution on his nightstand. Grimes, mother of Musk’s three children, wrote a song about their relationship and his gambling addiction. He likes to talk about how he is one of the best Diablo IV players of the planet.

For Musk, it is important not only to project the image of a gamer. No. Must be the best gamer. But his accomplishments don’t make sense, and his Path of Exile 2 livestream gave evidence of a man who is making it up as he goes along and possibly getting someone to level up with characters for him.

On Tuesday night, Musk live-streamed a gaming session with his high-level Path of Exile 2 character on X. To the trained eye, there were many red flags. PoE 2 is an action RPG that is similar to Diablo IV. Players comb the cards for valuable items as they level up their characters. As well as Diablo IVit can take hundreds of hours to grind a character to max level and get the best loot.

Where the hell does Musk find the time? He is the head of six companies and a close associate of incoming President Donald Trump. Post on X, the social media site you own, about 61 times a day. He meets with world leaders, tries to bend national and international politics to his will, and somehow still has time to play as Diablo IV and PoE 2 at the highest level.

Unless he’s as full of shit as the ASCII Mario who took a dump on his name in his DMs.

“I can say after watching an hour of this livestream that I’m going to put, like $100,000 or more on a bet… that Elon didn’t level this character from level 1 to level 90 himself.” YouTuber Cynicalex said: comment on the stream.

The suspicion among the players who actually play Diablo IV and PoE 2 is that someone else is grinding an account that Musk takes over and claims is his. In this scenario, Musk isn’t actually putting in the work to grind these characters, he’s just taking credit for someone else’s hard work.

Joseph Cox, co-founder of 404 Media is an action RPG fan with over 500 hours in Diablo IV and over 140 in Path of Exile 2. Cox told me he has long suspected that Musk’s boasted results in both parties were lies.

Cox has been on the pace of the Musk game for some time. Back in 2022, he blew up the poor mechanic of the billionaire terrible constructions of the Elden Ring. “Diablo IV players were already very suspicious of Musk’s alleged worldwide success in the game,” Cox told Gizmodo. “He tweeted about the Diablo IV a gap in October that would make your character unfairly strong, and the necessary time investment raised good questions about how a man who runs several companies would still have weeks and weeks to play like this if he doesn’t get help from boosters .

“Musk is embarrassing Path of Exile 2 flow, as reported by VICEit solidifies those suspicions,” he said.

It is important to note that Musk’s PoE 2 the game is in hardcore mode. That way, if your character dies, the game deletes it. One mistake could mean the end of working days and there is no way back from it. A player with a high level character in hardcore mode should know what they are doing.

However, Musk goes through high-level items that, based on his inventory, would be a great benefit. Attack the walls. He is surprised to press a switch that would have opened a passage for him. He has a specialized inventory tab called “Elon’s Maps”, which suggest they were reserved for him by someone else. He still doesn’t seem to understand how his character works and says he clears a map on the hardest difficulty despite it being set to a low level.

“Running past super valuable items? Don’t you know what the vital endgame mechanic is? That’s not the behavior of someone who has put a lot of time into the game,” Cox said. “Calling a stash sheet ‘Elon’s Map’? Exceptionally odd for someone playing his own character.”

Multiple Path of Exile 2 YouTubers published videos criticizing Musk’s performance and everyone came to the same conclusion: this is not a man who knows anything at a high level. Path of Exile 2 to play “What I do know is that if you’re a level 90 player, don’t make these mistakes,” Cynicalex said in his.

“Maybe you’re fooling really dumb people who have no idea about your high level thinking in a game they have no idea about,” Quin69TV said in their video on the stream. “What does it do? It doesn’t do anything. What’s the point in that? So you’re going to fool a bunch of boomers into thinking you’re good at gaming whenever boomers think gaming is cringe as fuck anyway. It doesn’t make sense . And it’s cringe.”

Cox was struck by Musks constant chatter about how he was playing PoE 2 at the highest level. “His constant emphasis in the stream that what he’s doing is very, very difficult, while apparently not understanding what he’s actually doing is incredibly on the mark for Musk’s attention and desperate love,” he said.
