Party friend of Elon Musk and Peter Thiel is in charge of buying Greenland for Trump

A founding member of the “PayPal Mafia” is the man Donald Trump chose to help America take over Greenland. Ken Howery, who was previously the chief financial officer of the online payment app, is also known for his long-standing ties to two other pivotal members of that aforementioned “mafia”: tech billionaires Elon Musk and Peter Thiel.

Howery, who previously served in the first Trump administration as the US ambassador to Sweden between 2019 and 2021, has been selected as Trump’s new ambassador to Denmark. Trump stated that he wants to buy Greenland from Denmark, although the Scandinavian country’s officials have repeatedly said that the the territory is not for sale. Trump, not to be discouraged, insisted that he was going to make it happen and said so will not rule out the use of military force to seal the deal.

Howery must still be confirmed by the Senate for the role. If he is, he will be in charge of trying to maneuver an agreement that he criticizes they considered “insane”. While Trump has not been particularly clear for what He wants Greenland, it is generally agreed that the territory belongs to significant geostrategic importance. During the Cold War, the United States in particular attempted to build a network of nuclear missile launch sites in Greenland for use in a “second strike” capacity against the Soviet Union. The effort was a top secret and, presumably, the United States never even informed the Danish government was doing this.

Howery’s potential involvement in the new pivotal administration role is just more evidence of the political rise of the PayPal mob under the new Trump administration. Like many of the PayPal crew, Howery and Thiel were college friends at Stanford. Howy wrote for The Stanford ReviewThiel’s student newspaper, and together the two would go on to create Funder’s Fund, the powerful venture capital firm that has backed some of the most successful tech companies in Silicon Valley, including Facebook, SpaceX and others.

As far as US State Department officials are concerned, Howery seems to enjoy an unusually colorful social life. Indeed, nearly half a dozen times throughout the Times piece, reporters refer to his ability to “party.” Howery is known for his extravagant social gatherings, including a Halloween party at a castle in Transylvania in 2022, where Thiel and other billionaires appeared. A Previous times The 2022 story also notes how Howery “threw himself a birthday party in an imposing 19th-century castle outside Stockholm” in November 2020.

During the pandemic, Musk spent significant time living out of Howery’s home in Houston, and in 2021, it is said of having hosted a party where guests were forced to sign non-disclosure agreements. At that party was Joe Rogan (who Trump platform during the election and hosted Musk several times on his podcast), Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale, “techno-optimist” doofus Jamie Wheal, and other well-known VIPs, many of whom have ties to the wider techno-libertarian network that circulates around Thiel.

We reported earlier that the Network State movement-a strange political movement that wants to build its own private city, cryptocurrency powered– has also expressed interest in buying Greenland and using it to test its technolunization efforts. Dryden Brown, the CEO of the Praxis Network State-linked project, also stated that the purchase of Greenland is part of the broader “plan” of his movement. The Network State movement received considerable financial support from Thiel, who also financially supported Trump during his first presidential run in 2016.
