Thousands of participants of the rally took to the streets on Israel to withstand the government plan to expand the military operation in Gaza.
On Friday, the Israeli security office approved five principles to end the war that included the “security control” over the gas strip, and the Israeli military stated that “prepare for control” gas.
The participants of the rally, including family members from 50 hostages to Gaza, 20 of which are still considered alive, are afraid that the plan threatens the life of the hostages and urged the government to provide their release.
Israeli leaders have rejected criticism of their plan, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that “this would help release our hostages.”
The hostage group said on X: “Expanding the hostilities and soldiers – Israel residents are not ready to risk it!”
One protesting Shah, which brings together in Jerusalem on Saturday, said the BBC: “We want the war to end because our hostages die there, and we need them to be home now.”
“Whatever we need to do, we need to do it. And if she needs to stop the war, we will stop the war.”
Among the participants of the rally in Jerusalem was a former soldier who said the BBC that he was now refusing to serve. Max Crash said he had been a fighting soldier at the beginning of the war and “refused.”
“We have more than 350 soldiers who served during the war, and we refuse to continue to serve in the political war Netanyahu, which threatens the hostages (and) starving innocent Palestinians in the gas,” he said.
The Times of Irael reports that the hostage and the soldiers protest in Tel -Aviv near the Israeli (IDF) headquarters (IDF) called for other soldiers to refuse service in an extended military operation.
According to Israel, the mother of one of the hostages called for a general strike in Israel, although the main working union will not support it.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also collided with a strong opposition from the Chief of Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General Eyala Zami, who, according to Israeli media, warned the Prime Minister that the full occupation of Gaza was “equivalent to go into paste” and put a living hostage.
Polls believe that most Israeli public people contribute to the Hamas agreement for the release of hostages and the end of the war.
Earlier this week, Netanyahu told Fox News that Israel planned to occupy the entire gas lane and eventually “pass it on the Arab forces.”
“We are not going to make gas – we are going to release Gas from Hamas,” Netanyahu said on X on Friday. “This will help release our hostages and ensure that the gas in the future does not pose a threat to Israel.”
The Israeli security plan lists five “principles” to stop the war: the disarmament of Hamas, the return of all hostages, demilitarization of the Gaza Strip, the control over the territory and the creation of a “alternative civil administration, which is neither Hamas nor the Palestinian authorities”.
The United Nations warned that the complete military absorption of Gaza’s city risks “catastrophic consequences” for civilian residents and hostages of Palestinians.
Up to one million Palestinians live in the city of Gaza in the north of the Gaza Strip, which was the most populated city of the enclave before the war.
The UK, France, Canada and several other countries have condemned the decision of Israel, and Germany has announced that it would stop its military exports to Israel.
The UN Security Council will meet on Sunday to discuss the Israeli plan.
On October 7, 2023, Israel launched a military offensive in Gaza after the attacks under the leadership of Hamas on Israel, killing about 1,200 people and took 251 people hostage.
Since then, more than 61,300 people have been killed in Gaza as a result of Israeli military operations, the Ministry of Health Hamas reports.
