Gaza was devastated 21 -month war between Israel and Hamas

According to Palestinian officials, familiar with the details of the discussions, negotiations between Israel and Hamas in Qatar on the new ceasefire in gas and the deals to release the hostages.

One high -ranking official told the BBC that this week Israel “bought time” during the visit of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Washington and intentionally stopped the process, sending a delegation to the roof without real powers to make decisions on key issues of dispute.

These include the withdrawal of Israeli troops and the distribution of humanitarian aid.

Before leaving the United States on Thursday, Netanyahu kept a positive tone, saying he hoped to fill the agreement “in a few days”.

He said the proposed deal saw that Hamas released half of 20 living hostages he still holds, and just over half of the 30 -killed hostilities during the armistice lasted 60 days.

Since last Sunday, participants of Israeli and Hamas talks have visited eight rounds of indirect “closeness” in separate buildings in Doha.

They were facilitated by Prime Minister of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdul Rahman al Tanya and high -ranking officials for Egypt’s intelligence, and participated in our messenger Britta McGurka.

The mediators conveyed dozens of oral and written messages between the Hamas and Israel delegation, which included military, safe and political officials.

But on Friday night, Palestinian officials familiar with the talks reported that they were on the border of the collapse, with two sides deeply divided into several controversial issues.

They said the last discussions were focused on two of these issues: the mechanism of humanitarian assistance to the and the degree of Israeli military withdrawal.

Hamas insisted that humanitarian aid should be included in gas and distributed through the United Nations and International Assistance Organizations.

Israel, on the other hand, pushes assistance through the controversial Israeli mechanism supported by the Humanitarian Gaza Foundation (GHF).

According to the mediators involved in the process, the progress to overcome the division over this issue was limited. However, the official agreement has not been reached.

The second main point of sticking is the degree of Israeli removal.

During the fifth round of talks, Israeli negotiators conveyed a written message stating that Israel would support a limited “buffer zone” in Gaza, which was 1 km and 1.5 km (0.6-0.9 miles).

According to the Palestinian official, who attended at least two of the negotiations, he considered this proposal as a possible starting point for a compromise.

However, when Hamas demanded and received a map outlining the proposed Israeli removal zones, the document contradicted the previous message, showing much deeper military positions. They said the card indicates the buffer zones that were up to 3 km in certain areas, and confirmed the permanent Israeli presence in the huge territory.

They covered the entire southern city of Rafa, 85% of the village of Huzao, east of Khan Unis, considerable parts of the northern cities of Beit -Leach and Beit Hanun, as well as the eastern quarters of Gaza, such as Tufa, Sheji and Zaitun.

Hamas representatives saw the map as a bad maneuver of Israel, which further blurred the trust between the parties.

Palestinian officials have accused the Israeli delegation of intentionally delayed to create a positive diplomatic background for the recent visit of the Prime Minister of the Israeli Prime Minister to Washington.

“They never seriously treated these conversations,” said one senior Palestinian BBC negotiator. “They used these rounds to buy time and design a false image image.”

The official also claimed that Israel is holding a long -term forced movement strategy under the guise of humanitarian planning.

He claimed that Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz on the Palestinians’ move to the “humanitarian city” in the raffles was part of a broader effort on their constant relocation.

“The purpose of the concentration of civilians near the Egyptian border is to pave the way to the expulsion either through the crossing of Rafa or across the sea,” the official said.

On Monday, Katz informed Israeli journalists that he instructed the military to prepare a plan of a new camp in a raft, which initially would be about 600,000 Palestinians – and eventually a whole 2.1 million population.

According to the plan, the Palestinians will be inspections by Israeli forces before being allowed and not allowed to leave.

Critics, both domestically and internationally, have condemned this proposal with human rights groups, scientists and lawyers who call it a “concentration camp”.

With the negotiations at the critical stage, the Palestinian side calls on the US to interfere with Israel’s pressure more strongly to make significant concessions.

Without such an intervention, the mediators warn, the DES negotiations can completely collapse.

This is a scenario that would further complicate the regional efforts to achieve a strong ceasefire and avoid a wider humanitarian disaster.

Doha diplomats say there is still a narrow window for a compromise, but the situation remains fragile.

“This process hangs with a thread,” said one regional official. “If something changes dramatically and rapidly, we can go for breakage.”

Israeli military launched a campaign in Gaza in response to the attack under the guidance of Hamas on South Israel on October 7, 2023, which killed about 1,200 people and took 251 people.

At least 57,823 people have been killed in Gaza since then, the Ministry of Health reports.
